When was the Chapel Built?
The Chapel of the Holy Cross sits on top of red rocks right off the SR 179. It was built in 1956 and that area has been known as the Chapel area ever since then. The sculptor and local rancher, Marguerite Brunswig Staude was inspired by the architecture of the Empire State Building and wanted to build a church with that type of architecture in mind.
