The Cottages At Coffeepot pool sits higher than the cottages below it so we get some awesome views of the surrounding red rocks. The developing weather is something we can see very well from this vantage point and gives us an astonishing look at the power of Mother Nature.

Sedona and Arizona Are Open!
Why Arizona Did It Right...
As other states are opening up, Sedona and Arizona have been open for some time. The mask mandates were lifted on March 25, a year and one week since the initial lockdown which was on my husband's birthday, March 18th, 2020. Restaurants opened for limited indoor dining around May 12th, 2020. By May of 2021, the mask mandate was lifted and restaurants could be at capacity.

There was a plan put in place...
Charts were developed with specific benchmarks for reopening. If your county met those guidelines your businesses were able to move to the … (41 comments)

Sedona Weather Alert!
I happened to be nodding off on the couch thinking of sugar plums when my husband yells watch the TV!
Here is what he saw.....
I was surprised.  I was at a home inspection so I did observe the heavy snow with huge flakes but I didn't know that my husband had submitted this video to 12News in Phoenix.  He found out that one of our neighbors had seen it on an earlier broadcast.   I also found out that he is a 12News "Weather Watcher".  WHO KNEW!

Looking Back On Our First Sedona White Christmas
White Christmas Memories from Rick & Sheri Sperry on Vimeo.
This was Tristan's very first Christmas and of course, it was going to be a special memory anyway.  But Tristan must have brought a little Christmas Magic with him that Christmas Eve!  After all, it was the very first White Christmas we ever experienced and it happened right here in Sedona.
During this Christmas Season, it is fun to look back on our first Sedona White Christmas! This snow fell on Christmas Eve 2016 into Christmas Day. We had a very wet and snowy winter season. … (25 comments)

This home was in contract in 10 days.  I had around 20 showings.  In fact, the only negative talk was that it didn't have a guest house! This property has a long driveway and I parked at the bottom to give each potential buyer the ability to drive up this driveway as if they own the home.  I wanted buyers to see the home as it comes into view and also see the views without any concern for other parked cars. Unusual Time Calls For Unusual Action
Sedona's resources are being stressed due to visitors hiking the trails in Red Rock Country. Visitors are disregarding the distancing guidelines that need to be strictly adhered to.

There were huge flakes lasting 5 minutes. The temp was 34º a little after dawn right here in Soldiers Pass West Sedona. This is the coolest May we have seen since 2015. No other year since 2010 has had a mean temp this low.

Happy Mother's Day!

When I lived in Southern California I couldn't get lilacs to grow.  You need a good freeze for the plant to bloom. When you cut them back, it may take another 2 to 3 years for them to bloom.  So it is a real treat to see the gift these lilacs have provided. The aroma is just wonderful. Eventually, we will be able to make a video with that feature built in. Ha Ha!

Sedona could not have had more beautiful weather during the month of April. Not one day dipped below freezing and the nighttime/daytime average was 58º. There were 27 days of temps over 65º (14 days between 70º ≤ 80º)!
Is El Niño Over?

Considering El Niño brings lots of rain and snow to the Southwest, Soldiers Pass in West Sedona only had 0.85 inches of rain for the month of April. All of that came in 5 days throughout the month.
In the first 3 months of 2019, The Cottages At Coffeepot had 26.11 inches of snow … (27 comments)

It's That Time of Year in Sedona
Time For Wildlife to Start Showing Up!

Lots of Wildlife
Coming from a fairly urban area in southern California, we would occasionally see a coyote or a hawk.  So when I came to Sedona, seeing a lot of wildlife was very unusual and a little nerve-racking. Over the years, I have grown to enjoy seeing a lot of different types of birds, small animals and some species of wild animals, such as javelina, bobcats, mountain lions, and the occasional deer! We do have black bears, but I have never seen any as of yet.

With Christmas around the corner, everyone can use a little helper.
Tristan is always trying to find a way to help. Whether it is vacuuming or helping set the table, making some Play Doh "food" or ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, he is there.
Now he wants to go to the post office and go to work with me.  Such fun pretending with him. Tristan is almost 3 years old and he has made me 3 years younger!

Fall Color - Sedona Style
When others are setting in to raking the leaves that have already fallen,  Sedona and the Verde Valley are just reaching peak color.  I am sure by next week, most of it will be over.  Many of the leaves on the huge oak trees are turning brown without color. Partly because our fall weather doesn't understand what season it is!
Hopefully there will be some color left to enjoy for Thanksgiving.  The Japanese Maple in our yard is still very full and I … (9 comments)
