You may find during your real estate career that there are certain types of people you don't want to work with.  No, don't get worried, I'm not getting ready to advise you to throw your Fair Housing training out the window.  I'm referring to personality types that you will realize are a bad fit for you.  Relationships developed in the process of buying or selling homes can become rather intense, intimate and emotionally charged.  It stands to reason that every real estate agent is not a good fit for every buyer or seller.

From Day One, we real estate agents are pressured by sellers to reduce our listing commission. There are entire classes taught on ways to Just Say No to discounting. If you read Sell with Soul, The New Agent's Guide to an Extraordinary Career in Real Estate, then you know how I feel about commission discounting...there are perfectly good reasons to do it! I don't see any problem with giving your family and good friends a break (they'd do it for you) or with discounting your commission for frequent buyers or sellers. For years, "they" have been saying that the real estate agent will soon be a thing of the past. "They" say that in the near future, all real estate will be handled online and the middle-man will no longer be needed.
Fair enough. We've seen some of that already. In the olden days, we real estate agents "owned" the data on the MLS and we guarded it like a momma bear.
