remax: There Is No "I" In Award - 03/03/11 07:37 AM

We hear it all the time...there is no "I" in Team.
I'd like to add there is no "I" in Award, either.
When the Oscar winners gave their acceptance speeches the other night, they thanked the people behind the scenes who contributed to their success.
And recently, I was awarded a plaque from my company for achievements in 2010. To say I was surprised would be an understatement (seriously...I didn't see that coming at all!), and the first thing I did was personally thank each of my clients from last year.

Because without those wonderful folks putting their … (9 comments)

Whatever You Do, DON'T Listen To Your Clients!

Of course I'm kidding, but now that I've got your attention...
I may have missed out on the perfect house for clients of mine, because they once told me, "We don't want a house bigger than 2500 square feet. We're downsizing."
Taking that to heart, I set up a search for them in the MLS with that maximum square footage.
Today, while checking out the listings of Barb Szabo, another RE/MAX agent who I'm Friends with on Facebook, I noticed she has a house for sale that looks perfect for them. … (11 comments)

remax: North Olmsted, OH Real Estate Housing Market Activity ~ October 2009 - 11/09/09 09:46 AM

Hope everyone had a wonderful October, with more treats than tricks! Life has been good in the Gabriel household. Kitties are fighting less (yay!), we've had one birthday and 2 more coming this week. My son turned 17 last month, and got his driver's license. I held my breath when he made his first solo drive home last week, but he's doing very well!
My daughter will turn 20 this Wednesday. That poor girl has never received a birthday card in the mail on her birthday - it's Veteran's Day and there's no mail delivery. So I'll be driving to Kent State on … (2 comments)

West Cleveland Suburbs ~ Home Buyer Tips ~ #10 - Owning A Home is a GREAT Investment...But.... And finally....Home Buyer Tip #10 of the Top 10 Tips To Take the Stress Out of Homebuying: 10. Choose a home first because you love it; then think about appreciation. While U.S. homes have appreciated an average of 5.4 percent annually over from 1998 to 2002, a home's most important role is to serve as a comfortable, safe place to live. Once again, we all wish we had a crystal ball, But, alas, we don't. Homes appreciate at different rates, in different areas of … (0 comments)

North Olmsted, OH Real Estate Housing Market Activity ~ week ending 7/17/09
Just as I predicted, we had two closings this past week versus none the week after the holiday. And more good news? The homes under contract have increased to 15! I've also included an additional stat for you...SP/LP%. Pretty cryptic, I know. It's actually very easy. Simply take the Sold Price (160,500) divided by the List Price (167,400) and you get the percentage that the seller received for their home. It's a neat little statistic to watch...for buyers and sellers. When the percentage is a large amount, it usually … (0 comments)

North Olmsted, OH Real Estate Housing Market Activity ~ week ending 7/10/09
Well, the 4th of July holiday has come and gone, and folks are back to work after a couple short work weeks. Although there are still quite a few properties for sale in North Olmsted, OH we also have more homes under contract...ie: Pending! No titles have transferred in the previous week, but that will change as the month goes along. Many realtors suggest the buyer close nearer to the end of the month, as the buyer will need to bring less money to the closing table. I'll be … (0 comments)

North Olmsted, OH Housing Market Activity ~ week ending 6/5/09
Hello everyone!
Welcome to North Olmsted, Ohio! We're one of the largest suburbs of Cleveland, and I happen to think one of the most diverse and convenient! Convenient to 2 major highways, the Ohio Turnpike, Cleveland-Hopkins Airport, a major shopping mall, and 20 minutes to downtown. Being born & raised a Clevelander, I made North Olmsted my home in 1994 ~ and I'm thrilled I did!
Almost every single time I go to the grocery store, or the library, or the high school to help in the bookstore, someone asks, "So … (0 comments)

remax: Top 10 Tips To Take the Stress Out of Homebuying! - 06/05/09 03:25 PM
Buying a home should be fun, not stressful. As you look for your dream home, keep in mind these tips for making the process as peaceful as possible.
1. Find a real estate agent who you connect with. Home buying is not only a big financial commitment, but also an emotional one. It's critical that the REALTOR® you chose is both highly skilled and a good fit with your personality.2. Remember, there's no "right" time to buy, just as there's no perfect time to sell. If you find a home now, don't try to second-guess interest rates or the housing market … (3 comments)

First-time Home Buyers - $8,000 Tax Credit for Down Payment!!
This was just announced today - and it's HUGE!!!
Daily Real Estate News  |  May 12, 2009  |
Tax Credit Can Be Used for Down Payment
Shaun Donovan, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, on Tuesday said that the Federal Housing Administration is going to permit its lenders to allow home buyers to use the $8,000 tax credit as a down payment.Previously, most buyers wouldn't receive the funds until after they filed their tax return, and that deterred some people from using the credit. The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® has … (2 comments)

remax: The New "Old-Fashioned Way"? - 03/21/09 11:45 AM
Ok, I'll admit it...I was dragged kicking and screaming into the world wide web 10 years ago. But I still called 411 to get phone numbers and looked up addresses in that big, white, now-almost-obsolete book that sits in the living room, under the telephone. Yes, I also still have a phone that PLUGS IN to the wall. Imagine that!!

So I had to chuckle this morning when I asked my husband, "What are your plans for today?"
Hubby: "I'm going to plot a route to some estate and moving sales." His hobby is "sale-ing".
Me: "Would you … (8 comments)

remax: These just may be the "good old days"! - 01/15/09 10:30 AM
So I woke up this morning thinking about interest rates.
I know, "get a life, Sue". But besides my family (both the 2 and 4 legged members), this is my life.
And lately I keep hearing about how bad the interest rates were in the 1980s. So I did a bit of research, and found the highest rates in 1981...ranging from 16% to 21%. Wow, those numbers seem beyond comprehension to me!
Then I started wondering what those numbers meant to our housing budget. I chose 18% as an average rate from "the good old days".
Take a look at your … (11 comments)

remax: I LOVE my Real Estate Profession because... - 10/13/08 11:53 PM
Before I start my list, we're supposed to tell the story of how we got where we are. For me, it started pretty cliché. I loved looking at houses!
When I was growing up, we'd go visiting a lot, as my Mom and Dad had many friends. I loved checking out everyone else's house...imagining what it would be like to have a basement (we had a crawl space)...2 bathrooms (we only had one)...a separate dining room (we had a small eat-in kitchen)...an upstairs (ours was a 2-bedroom ranch, until I was 10 and Dad added 2 bedrooms upstairs). Please don't think I'm … (11 comments)
