Are you addicted to blogging? - 06/29/07 08:02 PM
I know I've joked with friends that I do mortgages on the side to support my blogging habit. Not everyone laughs, but I'd imaging folks on Active Rain may get the joke. So when I saw this little utility that measures your blog addiction I took the test. I was surprised. Well, I guess I wasn't. I know myself. I don't have a frame of reference to say my score is high or low. All I know it when I answered the question I got a funny feeling that maybe I am addicted. So, here is my score:

Winning the ARMS Race - 06/26/07 03:58 PM
Here is an excerpt from a a recent story “Bad Loans get Worse” at CNNMoney:
More than $1 trillion worth of adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) will be hit with higher reset rates this year, and that could add up to big trouble for many homeowners.
So, who are the most vulnerable borrowers? They are the ones with low credit and low income. Somehow they managed to jump into the housing market in 2005 when everybody believed the stratosphere wasn’t high enough!
Remember the 2/28 loan is a band-aid loan. Getting a loan like this means you have to start preparing for a re-finance … (1 comments)

The Epicenter Shakes: Phoenix Active Rain Gathering - 06/22/07 02:53 PM
We all know that Phoenix is the epicenter of Real Estate blogging. If we didn't already know that, then we found out at yesterday's AR gathering in Phoenix. This event was also billed The First Southwest Real Estate Blogging Conference and was a great success. Over 30 people attended this event. Many of the attendees were full fledged bloggers with wide name recognition and brands in their own right. I would like to thank every soul who braved 112 degree weather to attend such a "geeky" outing - but fun was had by all. The mood was electric - almost like a Obama rally! Well maybe not, but still it was … (4 comments)

Real Estate Weblogging 101 Goes Live - 06/21/07 11:08 AM

A blogger, in any profession, at some point will ask the question: Who am I? In fact other questions will quickly follow. Why am I blogging? Is my blog working? Do I need to make money from blogging to justify the effort? How come my blog isn’t as good as that blog? These questions are very relevant since the whole Real Estate blogging space is currently experiencing explosive growth. More and more agents are giving it a “try”. So, my question is why is everyone jumping in? What is everyone seeking? Do you suppose that blogging is just another marketing sensation … (2 comments)

Obtaining a mortgage despite dealing primarily in cash - 06/15/07 04:03 PM
It’s hard for me to believe sometimes but there are plenty of people who still deal primarily in cash. There is nothing wrong with this and often times such an approach can save you from much heartache. However, when you need to make a large purchase like a home things can get a bit complicated. In fact it is very difficult to extend a loan to someone who has been largely operating outside the mainstream banking system. Despite the difficulty, you need not despair, there are plenty of ways to obtain a mortgage and still stay “cash-only”. Many loan programs offer … (1 comments)

Changes to credit scoring model - 06/05/07 01:01 PM
Fair Isaac announced some rule changes today. They announced that they will ignore authorized-user credit card accounts when calculating credit scores. Under the old rules if you had poor credit you could sign up to be an authorized user to a credit card in good standing. This could be your parent’s account, your siblings or any other person willing to take the risk with you. The verbal agreement is of course that you will not have access to the credit card, only that your name will be on the account for a period of time. By signing up your credit score … (8 comments)
