Laurie.... while you were sleeping... the dream died - 08/27/10 09:48 PM

While you were sleeping, the dream died.  I don't really care who you are. While you were sleeping, the dream died. It doesn't matter where you live in the United States. You slept. You dreamed. While you were sleeping, the dream died.
How can I make such a statement?  Dreams are the stuff of private fantasy.  Dreams are very personal. Dreams, in general serve a function of clearing the subconscious. Dreams are a euphemism of our hopes.  They represent things that often are just out of reach.  Dreams are often shared as goals.
When faced with a query regarding our thoughts about the … (18 comments)

They followed the rules ... now where do they go? - 08/24/10 02:18 PM

We are working with clients that need a home.  There is nothing unusual about that fact. That is what we do for a living.  Usually, we gather the data...you know how many bedrooms and bathrooms they need...when they plan to move and why they are moving.
In the past, having the data was sufficient.  We could go to the MLS and begin searching for listings that met their criteria.  If they were buying, we would verify (as best as possible) that they could qualify or had been pre-approved for a loan.  If they were renting, we would ask directly about … (2 comments)

Third time is a CHARM ! - 08/20/10 10:25 PM
Ben and Laura have a contract !

We're moving to Dundalk !
You may have perused the previous blog about this young couple's journey from star gazing new parents to actual bonafide home owners. They have been through the wringer with full price offer's that were turned aside when the seller decided not to sell to the contract that wasn't a contract.
Well, we kept searching and showing and pondering and suggesting. They kept viewing and talking and deciding. They took that leap of faith and made yet another offer.

A "license" to BUY and why most Real Estate Agents require you have one. - 08/17/10 02:57 PM
ah.....written from Arizona........we operate the same way here....please understand Mr. Buyer....it isn't you....it is everyone........our job is hard enough. there is no reason for us to spend time, money and expertise showing homes from top to bottom, front yard to kitchen.........to people that can't afford the toaster.
Via Amy Jones (Chandler, Arizona RE/Max Excalibur):
I received a call from a potential buyer yesterday and spent a considerable amount of time answering his questions about short sales, foreclosures and the process of buying a home in Arizona.
As we wrapped up our conversation I reiterated that his next step, since he would be financing … (2 comments)

Oh say it ain't true Sue.... - 08/17/10 12:10 AM
No pictures. No tongue in cheek.
This is a snapshot of one client's experience.
Working with a nice young couple. Sort of newly weds...a few years and still star gazing. We chatted on the phone and had to postpone our first meeting as their first baby was born.  The baby boy is delightful and quite the trooper. He joined mom and dad in viewing a home in Keymar that was billed as move in ready.
It was move in ready, if you were in the Army and bivouacking for the night. It seems that move in ready only meant that there was … (18 comments)

Social Media and the Great Personal Uploading - 08/16/10 06:55 PM
Hmmm.......the emperor is naked. We are a group of self absorbed folks. We have Active Rain and Facebook and we pontificate.  We blog, therefore what we have to share and say must matter?
I am re-blogging this because Paul has put his finger on what I consider to be a truth. Yes you can develop a following, and you can get business by blogging.  You can also get business by knocking on doors every weekend. You can get business by cold calling everyone that is not on the do not call list. You can get business by sitting at your desk. … (4 comments)

Please don’t ask me to help you beat the system. I’m in this business for the long haul! - 08/10/10 08:21 AM

I read many of the blogs posted on Active Rain. I am often surprised how often agents fail to follow the admonition...If you are a fool, keep your mouth closed rather than speaking (or blogging) and announcing the fact to the world. It is foolish to think that personal gain can be used as justification for breaking the law or skirting ethics.
Richard has shared what should be the view of EVERY agent. I say should be because there are so many willing to look the other way and cash a paycheck.
