realtor: Full Disclosure . . . there is a difference - 12/23/09 11:02 PM

The MacArthur Group
Recently, The MacArthur Group moved to ReMax Realty Centre.  The move was part of several changes we made to better serve our clients.  We wanted full control of our business.  Moving from one broker to another takes more than just packing, signing a new independent contractor's agreement, getting new cards and changing all your websites.  It takes careful planning. It takes timely evaluation of your options. Most agents understand that the majority of brokers will welcome any agent with a pulse with open arms. Unfortunately, lots of agents misconstrue this recruiting activity as a true … (35 comments)

Make Someone Happy !

I was sitting with a new agent the other day. I was trying to get a handle on why they had chosen this profession. If I can determine what motivated them to join the ranks of Realtors, I can then delve a little deeper into what might be that one factor that will separate them from those that have tried and failed and those that are still active today.
The young lad turned the question around and asked me..."Why are you a Realtor? You have had great success in other industries. … (26 comments)

realtor: Excuse me.....we aren't the enemy.....we could use a little help here. - 01/24/09 10:47 AM
Yes. I am talking to you. You may not think that I heard you when you complained about all the bail outs going on. You may think no one heard you when you complained about the neighbors that showed up with two or three families in that house next door. You may think that paying your mortgage on time will help keep your home values reasonably secure.
WELL. I did. Someone did. It won't.
Oh, you aren't sure who I am or why I am talking to you like this.
Let me refresh your memory.
I am the friendly little man … (8 comments)

realtor: Reasons to quit............. - 11/20/08 01:36 AM
I don’t really have any.

Oh, I know that the media has painted my future with a broad brush of gloom and doom. It would only seem reasonable to think that my ability to earn a living or continue living in a style that I have grown accustomed to in recent years may not be in the cards for the foreseeable future.

The frequency of deals has diminished over the last eighteen months. Things have changed in the market. There are fewer buyers available. In this area, it seems that at least half the homes for sale are … (3 comments)

realtor: You don't need a slide rule...the slide rules ! - 11/12/08 01:57 AM

O.K. , I have to be honest. I wouldn’t know how to use this contraption. I do enjoy the television show “numbers” and actually understand the relative importance of math and calculations to everything in our lives. I just never learned how to use the thing. I do know that it is used by many that are sorting out intricate problems. Sometimes, we create problems by cluttering the obvious with what we … (5 comments)

Didn't your Mother tell you not to go out without protection?
When representation is at no cost to you, why would you look for a home in an unprotected (unrepresented) fashion? Did you forget?....Mother always knows best!

realtor: Sub-prime implosion..... - 03/28/07 04:45 PM
The ticker feed from all wire services is reporting the financial tsunami of defaults on sub-prime loans. Bernake is reported to have "said that uncertainties over the economic outlook had increased, most notably the future trend in oil prices and a possible knock-on effect from the sub-prime lending crisis into the broader US housing and credit markets. Thus far, the Fed chairman declared, the difficulties faced by sub-prime lenders - which deal with customers who are shunned by mainstream lenders - were being contained. He argued that the shakeout caused by defaults on mortgages by overstretched and less creditworthy borrowers was … (0 comments)
