This morning my post This was my conversation with Mickey last night. Keep in mind she has never met any of these people. dealt with my Mother.  Of course, that got me thinking about my Father.
The week of Thanksgiving in 2001, I moved back to Cleveland from NYC.  For a year and a half I lived with my parents.

January of 2002 I started a job as a Property Manager for a small community with a little over 300 suites.  Fourteen buildings, garden style apartments, a lovely … (47 comments)

What's going on at the cat house?  Do those people on the first floor still have all those cats?
Yeah, they still have all those cats and it smells disgusting too.  The guy upstairs hasn't paid rent for August yet and Septembers is due on Saturday.  He's trying to get assistance.
Make sure he pays.  Do the cat people pay their rent?
Yeah..........they pay on time or early every month, which is why they are still there.  Plus the fact that they trashed the house and it would cost a fortune to get it ready for someone else to move … (46 comments)

Who have you "yoo hoo'd" lately? - 08/29/12 02:15 PM

Who have you "yoo hoo'd" lately?
This post is inspired by one written today by Toni Weidman.  She talks about "meeting your front door" and the day and age where we enter our garage and home by using the remote opener,  totally bypassing the front door.  She brings up some excellent points, so I do believe it's worth a read.  When I saw her post, it made me think of something else though.
Because of entering our homes through the garage, do we really know our neighbors?  Have you met the people that moved into the house across the street two … (32 comments)

One thing I was sure of, I was not sitting at home and doing nothing this weekend.
Friday night, my friend Gene and I had tickets for the Yankees/Indians game.  It was a beautiful night, not too humid, so we had dinner downtown at the Thirsty Parrot out on their patio.  We headed across the street to the game, the Indians lost, but we had a great evening.  After the game, we went back to the Thirsty Parrot and watched the very cool fireworks display before we headed home.

Saturday was a lovely day.  Did my usual ActiveRain … (41 comments)

She walked in the front door and said to James: 'Come up to my bedroom.' When they got there, she shut the door and said: 'Take off my dress.' And of course he did so. Spell check makes me laugh at times..........well, almost every day!
When I write an e-mail, I always use spell check.
I use it when I write a post on ActiveRain.

Every time, they tell me MUCCI is spelled wrong!
What's up with that?
I know ActiveRain tells Lenn Harley that Lenn is spelled incorrectly, unless they fixed that by now.

My last visit to the dentist a few weeks ago was with the hygienist.  After she finished with the x-rays, cleaning and flossing, she commented on the fact that it was obvious I had been flossing every day, and wanted to know what had changed.
I simply told her that instead of storing my floss in the medicine cabinet, I store it in my liquor cabinet now.

Letting go doesn't mean giving up...it means moving on. - 08/08/12 03:06 AM

Letting go doesn't mean giving up... it means moving on. It is one of the hardest things a person can do. Starting at birth, we grasp on to anything we can get our hands on, and hold on as if we will cease to exist when we let go. We feel that letting go is giving up, quitting, and that as we all know is cowardly. But as we grow older we are forced to change our way of thinking. We are forced to realize that letting go means accepting things that cannot be. It means maturing and … (29 comments)

Now isn't that a true account of a pessimist.
Lets all put on our optimistic hat and be extremely positive about everything we do today.
Why not see the glass as half full instead of half empty?

Well I don't know about you, but the way I see it, I'm #1 three times. - 08/06/12 05:59 AM
Just for "shiggles" I checked the Leaderboard this morning.
All Profile Types in All States.
This is how I ranked:
Well I don't know about you, but the way I see it, I'm #1 three times.
Looks right to me!
One thing confused me though, why are all those people pictured ahead of me?
Why do they have so many more points?
I just don't get it!
As far as I'm concerned, I'm #1 three times, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Hold up here, me, make a decision? You must be kidding, right? - 08/05/12 03:59 AM
The manager of a large corporation had a heart attack, and the doctor told him to go for several weeks to a farm to relax. The guy went to a farm, and after a couple of days he was very bored, so he asked the farmer to give him some job to do.
The farmer told him to clean the shit of the cows. The farmer thought that to somebody coming from the city, working the whole life sitting in an office, it will take over a week to finish the job, but for his surprise the manager finished the job in … (23 comments)

The ABC's of Delegating.................Is it really as easy as 1-2-3? - 08/04/12 02:07 AM
The ABC's of Delegating......

Document all policies and procedures.  Until there is a written policy or procedure on how a certain task is done, it's best not to delegate it to anyone other than yourself. Now it's time to train others to do the task.  Shadow an employee the first time they are doing the task.  Do it right along with them, following the written policy and procedure.  Don't just hand it off and go.  The first time they do this task on their own, check it to make sure all the "I's" are dotted and the "T's" are crossed. … (31 comments)

This is what Sheila and I walked into on Sunday of last week when we got to The Berkshires.  Possibly now you will all understand why there are no "after" photos available.  Our mission last weekend was to give the contractor all of the selections and necessary information he needed so the work can be completed.
The center photo is one end of the living room and the top left photo with the built in bookcases is the other end.  It's quite a large space, but radiators have to be moved, … (35 comments)

Many of you have been asking me for photos of the meet-up in The Big Apple at The Oyster Bar.  Believe me, my photos pale by comparison, so I would much rather direct you to Kristine's post and the fabulous photos taken by her and her husband and the wonderful display she put together for us.
It truly was an exciting meet-up as you will tell from the photos and it was such a pleasure to meet everyone in person, finally!

The Meet-Up was a huge success.  We had a total of 18 ActiveRain members who were there......some long time members and some who are fairly new.  It was an amazing mix of people and I believe everyone in attendance had a great time.  If not, they only have themselves to blame.
Attendees:
