Cedar Park Center Benefits the Whole Community - 11/30/10 11:47 AM
Cedar Park Center opened to a sold-out George Strait concert, and the venue has continued to excel exceeding first-year expectations of both city officials and operators. The venue has done so remarkably well that it was actually able to snag the Austin Toros from the Austin Convention Center this past August.  It is tough for a venue to get bookings when first established but Cedar Park Center seems to be having no problems in that area.Big plans are in the works for the upcoming year to bring in more entertainment than the current 130 events that are already scheduled. Unfortunately, there has been a lull in new home construction in Texas and across the country as a result of the housing market collapse. Central Texas cities saw a 6 percent decrease in permits issued for new homes for the 12-month period that ended in September, according to the Houston-based Bohlke Consulting … (0 comments)

Foreclosure Halt Impacts the Housing Market - 11/11/10 10:34 PM
For two months in a row the amount of pending home sales rose in Austin and across the country. However, recent reports show that pending home sales slipped in September as a result of the foreclosure moratoriums. Economists had originally predicted that existing homes sales would be up 3 percent for the month of September, and were by no means expecting to see a decrease. The foreclosure halt is more than likely the cause of this unexpected decline. The foreclosure moratorium came … (2 comments)
