Williamson County residents will be happy to know that County Commissioners recently voted to decrease the property tax rate by approximately 0.002312 per $100 in assessed value. The decrease will make the 2011–12 adopted tax rate 0.487687 per $100 in assessed value. The decrease in the property tax rate will help offset the increase being seen in property values in the area. It is estimated that Williamson County residents will end up paying about the same in taxes in 2012 as they did in 2011. National homebuilder Pulte Group Inc.recently announced that it will be adding two large developments to the Austin area that will add a total of 700 new single-family homes . At a recent City Council meeting Austin council members gave their approval for Cypress Real Estate Advisors to go ahead and begin the development of Tarlton 360 Townhomes. The development will be built on the site of the vacant Cinemark Movie Theater adjacent to Barton Creek Square Mall at Walsh Tarlton Lane and Capital of Texas Highway.  Construction time frame for the development was approved from three to 10 years. Many housing markets across the country are experiencing plummeting home prices, but that is not the case here in the Austin area. The CoreLogic Inc. Home Price Index report for July showed that home prices in the Austin area actually rose by 0.1 percent with distressed homes sales included when compared to home prices of July 2010. The Georgetown City Council is looking to make every penny count and has set a goal of cutting $400,000 from the 2011–12 general fund budget.The budget for Georgetown during this time period is currently set at $40 million. Liberty Hill High School to Break Ground on September 18th - 09/01/11 08:58 PM
September 18th is the day that  ground will be broken for the new Liberty Hill High School, and construction is set to begin the following day. Construction is expected to be completed by June of 2013. Last fall voters approved the $ 85.6 million bond package that would allow for the much-needed new high school. The Liberty Hill School District has grown by 20 percent since 2006 and is expected to grow another 35 percent by 2025.
