The community of the township of Millburn/Short Hills never ceases to amaze me. The values of the community have never been more prominent than in the case of Lisa Motessi. Motessi has been diagnosed with Acute Myleogonous Leukemia. Her friends and family organized a bone marrow screening in an attempt to identify a potential donor or donors who may save the life of this young mother of three. The most recent noteworthy occurrence has to do with the public school system. The township of Millburn/Short Hills is renowned for hosting the number one public high school in the entire state of New Jersey. In order to keep this title, the board of education is working hard to keep up their current standard of excellence. As realtor and resident in Millburn/Short Hills, I am continually impressed and amazed by how the community bonds together to make a difference for the world. The Millburn chapter of New Eyes for the Needy was recently awarded a $15,000 grant from the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The grant will be used by the organization to purchase brand new prescription eyeglasses, which they will distribute to economically disadvantaged individuals in the Atlantic and Camden counties. School administrators recently reported results of an in-house study that was conducted to find out how Millburn/Short Hills students fared when applying to colleges and universities.
