Due to our ongoing drought-like conditions, the City of Austin will begin mandatory water restrictions on the day after Labor Day (Tuesday, September 6, 2011). While some restrictions are already in place, the new, more stringent Stage 2 restrictions will begin on September 6th. Austin has a Drought Contingency Plan that is set up in stages to help ease water usage specifically during times of drought. Stage 2 is scheduled to take place when Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan water storage levels reach 900,000-acre feet, which is expected to hit sometime in the next week.
