CLAY COUNTY WATERFRONT INFORMATION If you are thinking about waterfront real estate in the Fleming Island, Middleburg, Orange Park or Green Cove Springs areas of Clay County in the greater Jacksonville area here is some helpful information: Our water is 'brackish' meaning there is salt in it. We have actually seen dolphins jumping in downtown Jacksonville on our way to football games by boat. Every year in late summer and early fall, boaters shrimp in the St. Johns River when the shrimp come in to breed. You can even shrimp off the docks of Eagle Harbor on Fleming Island. Below

orange park waterfront: Orange Park Waterfront View
- 03/18/12 01:58 PM
Orange Park Waterfront View This was shot looking out at the St. Johns River from Johnson Slough in the Orange Park area of Jacksonville Florida. Johnson's Slough is a tributary of the St. Johns River that runs under Highway 17 and becomes wetlands all the way over to its exit into Doctors Lake. Locations like this one are protected during storms, so some boaters prefer here versus right on the River. This view has the best of both - the expanse of the River with the protection afforded by being just a bit 'up the creek.'
