Friends and relatives around the country have asked about the hailstorm that hit Dallas last Wednesday. The section of Dallas that received the most damage is located in an area from just west of U.S. 75, around North Park Center, to the east, encompassing much of the Lakewood neighborhood in East Dallas. Damage has been estimated to be greater than $500 million. Sandra Helin, who works with the Southwest Insurance Information System, reportedly said that a total loss of $1 billion would not be surprising when all the damage is assessed.
