Today, the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) presented Dallas art lovers, with the gift of Free General Admission beginning January 21, 2013! In addition, the DMA announced a new membership program. The goal of the new membership program is to make the Dallas Museum of Art more accessible to a larger number of art lovers. The DMA is introducing a program called DMA Friends to recognize those who participate in activities offered by the Dallas Museum of Art. The Atrium will be filled with Jazz performed by vocalist Carolyn Lee Jones and some of my favorite Dallas Jazz Musicians: Shelley Carrol will be playing saxophone; Jonathan Fisher will play bass; Todd Parsnow will play guitar; Andrew Griffith will play the drums; and Brad Williams will be on keyboard. The Matt Tolentino Band, will be playing French Musette style music in the Atrium. The band's sound is perfect for the "Posters of Paris" Exhibit. You will feel like you are in a Paris Bistro! Klyde Warren Park opens this weekend, Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Dallas. This 5.2 acre park spans the 8 lane Woodall Rodgers Freeway and connects the Dallas Arts District to Uptown. Three hundred twenty-two (322) trees have been planted on the Klyde Warren Park grounds.The trees are planted in 4 feet of soil.Keeping in mind our windy North Texas weather, the trees are anchored with cables and concrete to ensure that they remain in their original location. Both the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) and the Nasher Sculpture Center have new exhibits for all to enjoy. The Dallas Museum of Art is celebrating one of my favorite french artists, Toulouse-Lautrec, with the exhibit Posters of Paris:Toulouse-Lautrec and His Contemporaries. . The inspiration for Toulouse-Lautrec's paintings came from the colorful Paris nightlife and personalities, in the 1800s. Beginning Thursday, July 12, the Dallas Museum of Art will sponsor, "Dallas on Film," a series of films that each feature a location in the City of Dallas. Local experts will introduce the films. Tonight Dallas Museum of Art Late Night is continuing with the "Youth and Beauty" twenties theme and creating a Speakeasy for a fun night of dancing.
