Newport Shores Market Update – Newport Beach
Newport Shores is located at the west side of Newport Beach and is a community of approximately 440 homes. This area is right across from the beach. Newport Shores continues to evolve, as many of the homes were originally built in the 1960’s, and now many of those homes are being remodelled or rebuilt.

The OC Marathon is being held this weekend, Sunday, May 1, 2010. The goal and mission of the OC Marathon is to provide education, and implement programs for obesity prevention in children. These programs aim to promote improved fitness and nutritional habits among children.
The marathon/half marathon will begin promptly at 6:30 am on Saturday. I would suggest arriving early for parking and road closures. The Toshiba Golf Classic which was held at the Newport Beach Country Club raised $900,000 for Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach according to the Daily Pilot. The Toshiba Golf Classic is the main fund raiser for Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach and the money raised supports the Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute, the Hoag Cancer Center, Orthopedic Services, Neuroscience, and Women’s Health Services.

Surf’s Up at Southern California Beaches
This week in the Newport Beach area has been glorious with warm weather and sunshine. Although the weather is supposed to change this weekend, we definitely enjoyed it while it lasted.
Last Sunday, on Valentine’s day, we took a bike ride to the Huntington Beach Pier to enjoy the beach climate and California sunshine and get some exercise at the same time. Huntington Beach is known as surf city.

Southern California Gets Pounded with Storms
Is this seriously Southern California? The weather has been very unusual, wet and treacherous over the last few days. The news media and weathermen have been fairly accurate about predicting the storms. Yesterday was unbelievable. It started raining in Newport Beach at about 1:00 pm and then the rain became torrential right away. I was in a meeting in the Prudential office, and my colleague commented that the rain was going side ways! I turned to look, and it was being blown side ways!

But I Am a Real BirdNewport Shores is located in Newport Beach and is home to many creatures including racoons, skunks (bummer for my dog Patrick), possums, herons, seagulls, ducks, wood ducks to name a few. Pelicans visit the Newport Shores area in the winter and it is always a treat to see them. It is always a pleasant surprise when the swan comes to visit. 1000 Steps Beach in Laguna Beach is an absolutely beautiful beach that does have public access. There are approximately 230 steps to the sand, not 1000 but it is still a workout. There are bushes and plants which have grown over the stairs. The beach itself is amazing with caves and beautiful rock formations.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was held at Fashion Island in Newport Beach yesterday September 27, 2009. I participated in this event with my family, and what an awesome experience. The attendance for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was approximately 30,000 people. There were participants racing in honor of others who are survivors, and there were survivors as well that raced.
