Not A New Hampshire Home Stager?  Changing My Title Is A Good Idea!

ActiveRain has a great feature called Re-blog.  Reblogging allows you to share blogs written by others.  It's pretty easy...at the top of each blog there is a green box (as long as the writer has chosen to allow reblogs).

Click on the green box and a window will open for you to write an introduction to the post.  It's nice to mention the original writer with a link to their profile page or website.

Buying New Appliances Usually Costs Less Than Promising New Appliances - 07/21/12 04:20 AM
Buying New Appliances Usually Costs Less Than Promising New Appliances

I had a Home Staging Consult this week with a client who asked me if she should buy new appliances.
Her appliances are 23 yrs. old and need replacing, but her agent told her that it wasn't necessary... suggesting  they tell potential buyers they are willing to purchase new appliances once the house is under agreement.

I was hired by the seller.
The seller asked for my professional opinion...what I thought she should do.
I told her if it were my house, I would buy the new appliances … (31 comments)

One Of The First Things You Should Do After Moving Into Your New Home - 07/16/12 03:13 AM
What's One Of The First Things You Should Do After Moving Into Your New Home?

You've just moved, and the last thing you need is me adding to your "to-do" list.  But this is something many homeowners don't think of and it could become a serious problem if neglected.
If the previous owners didn't follow manufacturers' suggested maintenance on their appliances, you could be the one paying the price.

When we moved into our home earlier this year I wasn't happy with the taste of the water that dispensed from the refrigerator door.
My husband checked the … (110 comments)

Fast and Easy Appetizer - Chicken Mayonnaise on Crackers - 07/13/12 04:54 AM
Fast and Easy Appetizer - Chicken Mayonnaise on Crackers

When my daughter, Jaime, makes chicken salad for Zack she puts the chicken in a food processor because Zack doesn't like "chunks".  Zack calls it Chicken Mayonnaise.  Jaime's "chicken spread" was the inspiration for this appetizer recently when I needed something for a family party and had very little in the house to work with.
It was a hit!  Very tasty....visually appealing....fast and easy to make!

Start with leftover chicken.
 Process until very fine.
Add mayo.

Put chicken mayonnaise on crackers.
Garnish with whatever you have on … (26 comments)

New Hampshire Home Stager's #1 Rule For Decorating Your Home - 07/09/12 03:18 AM
New Hampshire Home Stager's #1 Rule For Decorating Your Home

I'll start by saying although Home Staging is considered decorating by many;
I do not claim to be, nor have I been trained to be, a decorator.

As a New Hampshire Home Stager, I help sellers make their homes more appealing to buyers. My client's taste and personal style are not my concern.  Home Staging is not about the homeowner's convenience or comfort...it's about creating space and flow and highlighting positive features.    It's not decorating, it's marketing.
As a New Hampshire Home Stager, I also help homeowners, who are not selling, give … (35 comments)

New Hampshire Home Staging Consult - These Sellers Did Their Homework! - 07/06/12 04:58 AM
New Hampshire Home Staging Consult - These Sellers Did Their Homework!

As a Professional Home Stager in New Hampshire, I don't always get to see the results of the "to-do" lists that I provide to sellers during a home staging consult.   I never know how clients will interpret my suggestions, and I don't always get the chance to return to the home after their "homework" is complete.
I was very happy recently to return to a listing and get some photos after the sellers had made my suggested changes.
I was very pleased with the transformation!

The Dangerous Truth About Sun Protection - Which Sunscreens Are Safe? - 07/02/12 03:16 AM
The Dangerous Truth About Sun Protection - Which Sunscreens Are Safe?
Time for my yearly lecture on sun protection.  Not all sunscreens are created equal....some actually do more harm than good.
Are you wasting money on a product that not only isn't protecting you, but could be increasing your risk of cancer?
Most people choose suncreen based on the SPF number...which refers to how much longer you can be in the sun before you burn.
SPF ratings refer only to protection from UVB radiation (sun burning rays).
SPF ratings don't refer to UVA radiation (the dangerous killer rays).

In order to … (21 comments)
