I wrote about this last year, and several other years, but it's worth repeating... Every night in October, except Mondays, the residents of 292 Middle Road open their yard and barn to the public as a Halloween gift to the city.
Open Tuesday - Sunday through October 31 5:30pm - 9:00pm (Weather permitting)
Every year the theme changes and more props are added. I've been going for ten years and I've never been disappointed.
It is a totally FREE event!
Don't let the free admission fool you....it's far better than some events that charge admission!
Every night in October the residents of 292 Middle Road open their yard and barn to the public as a Halloween gift to the city. It's FREE to enter. Don't let the fact that it's free fool you.... it's better than many of the events you have to pay to enter.
Every year the theme changes and more props are added. I've been visiting this Halloween masterpiece for nine years now. I've never been disappointed.
There are no actors....no spooky, chain-saw carrying monsters. It's simply a walk-thru experience to enjoy (39 comments)

One of my favorite Halloween traditions is visiting the very impressive "haunted house" at 292 Middle Rd. in Portsmouth NH. A very creative Portsmouth resident transforms their barn and surrounding property into a Halloween showcase every October.... each year with a new theme. The theme for 2012 is..... "All Saints Walk In Clinic"
This Portsmouth haunted house is open to the public, FREE OF CHARGE, every night from 5pm to 9pm through October 31. This is NOT a "monster jumps out at you" type of event...there are no live characters. You walk through at your leisure. The details are amazing and every (22 comments)

The first is the Portsmouth Halloween Parade, held October 31 at 7 pm - rain or shine. Always a lot of fun!
The second is a house, 292 Middle Road in Portsmouth. I look forward each year to seeing what theme they have come up with for their ghoulish, amazing, Halloween display.
To say they "decorate for Halloween" would be a massive understatement.
Each year their barn and surrounding area is spooked out to the max, each year a different theme, and each year I am left more amazed at the lengths one family will go to celebrate the holiday. It's a visual display, (8 comments)
