The Purdue University Memorial Mall in West Lafayette is just west of the two most visited buildings by students:  The Purdue Memorial Union and the Library.  The Memorial Mall is a wonderful green space for students to study or relax in the sun or shade amid the beauty of the carefully manicured grounds.
The steeple is part of University Hall one of the oldest buildings on campus and my favorite building on the Purdue Campus in West Lafayette, as it was home to the History Department!

Silver Bow is an equine statue made of vines and is located at the south east portion of the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts.  This work of art appears to be grazing on native grass, and is located just east of the Brickhead Conversations works of art.

On the south entrance to the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts Center at the Purdue University Campus is a striking pair of masonry statues titled, BRICKHEAD CONVERSATIONS. 
They are separated by a small plaza encircled with limestone bench seating and when you get close to the statues you can hear the sound of BIRDS chirping inside the brickheads.
 
Golly, is the artist saying that we are birdbrains????

On the south side of the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts Building is a very interesting work of art called "Brickhead Conversations".  It is quite striking.
 

 As you sit down around the brickhead on the limestone seating you hear sounds.
 

You look around in the trees and then the ornamental grass.
 
 

You hear the sound again but it is not coming from the trees as you would expect, the sounds are coming from within the work of art.

The Purdue Spirit Arch has been around the central Purdue University Campus as long as I can remember.  It was created by funds from the Class of 1912, and the statue can be found on the east side of Stanley Coulter Hall. 
I always thought this looked like a plumb bob that got stuck in a crevice, but what do I know as I was not an art major while attending Purdue.  What does this look like to you?

The Purdue Engineering Mall Fountain is a notable landmark on the West Lafayette Campus of Purdue University.  The Executive Office and various engineering and physics buildings encase the Engineering Mall and the fountain is the center piece.  It is a very popular spot for recent high school and Purdue graduates to have their pictures taken.

 The Purdue University Bell Tower is in the heart of the Purdue Campus next to world famous Elliot Hall of Music.  It is actually a recent landmark as it was constructed in 1995 as a tribute to the tower at Heavilon Hall that was destroyed by fire around 1895.  As a tribute to that former landmark the Purdue Bell Tower houses four bells that were in the former Heavilon Hall Tower.  I must admit I do not have good memories of Heavilon Hall while earning my two degrees at Purdue University as it … (6 comments)

The Area Plan Commission gave the go ahead for the proposed new apartment complex in Chauncey Village. 
 
The proposed South Street Station will need final approval from the West Lafayette City Council in the first week of August.
 
The proposed complex will be four stories tall and have 40 units with 75 bedrooms.  It will be located, at South and Salisbury Streets.
