I recently read an article about some of the extremes through which people are going in order to sell their home in this market.  The one that caught my eye was the purchasing of a little statue of one of the Catholic Saints who is said to be of great assistance in selling one's home.  For a minimum of $5.00 and shipping and handling, you can order a "Sell Your Home" kit.  This kit features a little statue of the saint, instructions on how to bury the statue on your property, and a little prayer to say over it after you've buried it.

 Hummmm....  Does this process actually work or is it a ploy to get people to spend more money?  I read, the more you pay, the bigger the statue.  A few people have testified that yes it does work and their home sold soon after they went through this burial process.  What happened to good old prayer?  God's will be done.  It is my personal opinion that each home will sell when it is supposed to.  I see some very nice homes on the market for months even after the seller has offered to give $25k in gift cards to the nearest home improvement store or to purchase the buyer a new car (including sales taxes and licensing fees).  

 My advice to sellers is to be patient and stay informed of what the market is doing, i am sure your agent is doing the best they can to keep your home out there.  For buyers, now is the time to find a great deal, but remember, don't lose out.  Just as you become interested in a property, someone else might too.  For agents, keep communicating with your sellers and provide them with updated CMAs to let them know their home is not the only one not selling.  Statue or no statue, the market will turn around again!
