active rain: Blogs That Make The Blood Flow. - 04/11/12 12:54 PM
One of the things I heart about AR is the differing opinions, learning opportunities, and the viral explosion when certain words hit cyberspace in the form of a blog.  I will highlight five blogs here that did just that.  Some of them show what is great about this place and some of them show the shady elements of any community.  Some of them I was involved in and some of them I sat back and watched more entertained than if you handed me a Sean Hannity/Barack Obama Sex Tape.  ALL of them made the Blood Flow ...

active rain: Roasting The Rain - 06/22/11 04:18 PM
Considering July 17th is coming up here real soon, I wanted to write about something Real-Estate oriented on this fine evening.   Because on the 17th of this July, I turn 35 and plan on roasting the living hell out of my imperfections.  I want that blog to be so disheartening to my soul that I'll write it from the corner of a now unfinished basement with a match and can of gasoline nearby.  But in the meantime, writing about Real Estate is pretty tough.  Especially a tough & cumbersome task since I'm no longer collecting bounced checks and sleeping with blow-up … (17 comments)

active rain: Did you wonder why they subscribed? - 08/04/10 05:00 PM
Imagine it, little old you.  Having a list of folks who actually want to read what you write and see what you think?  It's a great honor.  Unless, of course, it's contrived.
Back when AR had the function of looking at the most subscribed to folks on this forum, I thought it was kind of cool.  Unless I'm no longer in the Top 100, I wish they would bring it back;)
This is an opinion piece, like anything I take the time to type these days.  It has no factual basis ... at least, not yet.

active rain: A Mid-Life Crisis at 33. All because of Active-Rain. - 06/05/10 05:23 PM
Being one of the first contributors on this particular forum has been the proverbial blessing and curse.  The latter is because I no longer do Mortgage Financing for a living.  I'm no longer actively involved in Real Estate.  The former is because of a few factors:
I found my muse and her name is Alan May Jennifer Monroe, right here on Active Rain. I rekindled my love for writing, learning, and debating from many folks more wise and experienced than yours truly. I learned a hell of a lot about Real Estate, before, on, and after the job was done. Today I spent some … (106 comments)

active rain: Superstars and realized dreams... - 08/30/08 04:30 AM
This song ran through my skull.

Have you noticed the barren landscape around you?  Tumbleweeds roll across the office floor like another mortgage application that will never see the light of closure.  In April of 2006, our small firm here in Allentown had 19 folks working for the cause: that of making our lives better by helping make other lives easier.  Turn the clock to the common day, we are down to seven.  But damn, the seven of us are some of the most passionate survivors in this new frontier.  The Renaissance is here, amongst us.  I see it, hear it, believe … (15 comments)

active rain: Blogger's Choice: New Host & Here's a Toast! - 06/01/08 06:57 AM
When I was asked to introduce and interview the new host for Blogger's Choice here on Active Rain, I was quite honored.  When I found out who I'd be interviewing, I was thrilled.  Few ooze class and professionalism more than the following person.  Without further ado (nice choice in wording Mr. Sardi:-) ... I give you ...

'Stumbling upon' would be the most appropriate way to describe how I started blogging on Active Rain.  I had been Blogging … (40 comments)

active rain: That Day Is Tonight... - 06/27/07 08:11 PM
I just spent the better part of a two hours reading every post I've ever written on this forum.  I clicked on every link I provided and read the majority of comments contributed.  It's a no-brainer, I have too much time on my hands.  But it got me to thinking about the nature of my particular contribution to this forum.  Hey man, some of those posts were inspirational, some were educational, some were emotional, some were pseudo-intellectual, and some were down right lousy and/or boring.  I have learned to write for me, not an audience, it's the truest way to get yourself … (79 comments)

active rain: So, how did I get here anyways? - 04/07/07 01:53 PM
I often wonder that.  I'm not talking life itself(That is a whole different ball of complex wax), but here on Active Rain.  How did Mr. Sardi end up on this Great Forum?  I'm not sure if I was invited...if I was, not sure by who?  I'm not sure if I stumbled across this fine establish by mere cyber-chance.  I'm not real sure at all.

Now, without the glasses and lipstick....I'm a man in the mortgage biz.  I've found this forum to be a very insightful look into all aspects of my chosen profession.  Of course, garnering business was my motive.  Yet, … (10 comments)
