31 days of may: Be An Opener Of Doors - 05/28/11 04:42 PM
I ran across a quote recently that I really like, "Be an opener of doors" by... Ralph Waldo Emerson. Do you think maybe he was a Realtor?    The actual quote is a bit longer and could be interpreted many ways... the whole quote is “Be an opener of doors for such as come after thee.” The meaning of the quote for most is to be a trailblazer for those that come after you... I really like the quote in the shortened form. I think it would make a great slogan for a Realtor. What do you think? … (12 comments)

31 days of may: Speechless Sunday - Blue Heron - 05/22/11 11:24 AM
Today after lunch, my husband and I visited a nearby park with a pond. There we saw huge Koi, several turtles, and a few ducks. The main attraction we saw however was this Blue Heron. He was obviously used to people being around because he let us get really close. The day was beautiful and sunny and a warm 92 degrees.. :)

Food Insurance – Are You Afraid? So, what is your thinking on this new “Food Insurance” craze? I keep hearing these commercials on the radio about how, if there was some big catastrophe or disaster, we all need food insurance. REALLY??? Come on…I mean, there’s car, life, home, health, and many other types of insurance, but do we really need food insurance? Many people can’t afford the types of insurance that are required by law, and now they need to think about another type too? There are several radio hosts who say, “I have food insurance and so should you.” I … (10 comments)

31 days of may: The Price Is Right - Or Is It? - 05/16/11 02:54 PM
Times have changed a lot since I entered real estate in 1989. Back then we didn't have the MLS online, we had a book that came out every two weeks.( ok, I could go on and on about what we DIDN'T have, but that is another blog for another day)  I bet if you've been in real estate for only a few years that sounds strange to you. To top that off, the book was in black and white so the picture was basically useless! And the remarks about the home were about 3 sentences long and that's it.     I … (30 comments)

I have relatives that remember when the Lake was "made" and watched the homes, roads, and other things disappear under the water. Can you imagine? 31 days of may: Do you Remember School House Rock? - 05/09/11 12:36 PM
Do you remember School House Rock Videos? I have included my 2 favorites, but there are many more. For those that don't know it, make sure to watch the videos... School House Rock was a series of animated musical and educational "short films" that aired on Saturday mornings when I was a kid. It was on in between other cartoon and children's programming. It was on the ABC network and the topics covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics.
I learned more from these crazy little clips than I did from some teachers.. I still remember the words to most of them … (10 comments)

This is part of the creek in our front yard. I've thought about making a little pond area but have never gotten around to it.. It is neat to have a small water fall in our yard though. The sound is very relaxing on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Happy May ... Hope your day is beautiful and relaxing!
