First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit - 01/28/09 08:52 AM
Melissa is an awesome lender and can help you take advantage of this first time buyer credit!
Via Melissa Schwartz (Asset Mortgage):
One of the most exciting new provisions of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 is the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit. The credit is designed to encourage first-time homebuyers to go ahead and make the leap to purchase their first homes. Combine this tax credit with the fact that home prices are at historical lows, and indeed it is an ideal time for many first-time homebuyers to purchase homes.
Here are some things to keep in mind:

Should Agents Wear Nametags? - 01/27/09 12:20 PM
I decided to stop at the local Panera Bread the other morning to get a Cobblestone (try one - they are great!) and some coffee.  It was really rainy out and I didn't feel like driving to the office yet so I set up shop in the corner with my laptop hidden from the hustle and bustle.  I was a psychology major and love to people watch especially for my training ideas.
As I sat there I instantly became overwhelmed by the number of real estate related conversations going on.  Within my earshot were 5 tables all talking about real estate.

Please Help Research! What are agents looking in a Real Estate Brokerage? - 01/05/09 11:09 AM
Ok, activerainers.  This blog is more of a question that I am hoping to get lots of responses to and feedback from...
I was an a recruiter and trainer for large RE/MAX for several years and prior to that owned my own company.  I have been through just about every recruiting "how-to" class out there.  However I feel that things have changed greatly and what agents were looking for in a brokerage has changed from a couple of years ago when all the agents wanted was a nice building to bring their many customers and clients to and a high split.

What is a Real Estate Broker? - 01/04/09 07:55 AM
Have you ever had anyone ask... "What is it you actually DO as a real estate broker?"  Can't you just see the endless list that starts going through your head only to respond with "It's different everyday."  Broker/Owners and trainers how often do you have new or prospective agents come in the first day and look around thinking"so, what is it that I do?"
There are some really wonderful statistics and information about the occupation of Real Estate Broker posted on the U.S. Department of Labor Website (Bureau of Labor Statistics).  They have done an excellent job of putting a definition into what a real … (9 comments)

Moving with children and decluttering you home can be stressful! - 01/04/09 07:33 AM
Ok, Who decided that moving with children was a good idea?  As a Realtor myself, I see families pack up their family and belongings everyday and move them to a new house.  It looks like an easy task from the outside.  We, the agents, just get the paperwork signed and the family packs their belongings...Right?
Well, when I was in high school and college I was a waitress and thought everyone should do it once just to see what it is like to better appreciate what the servers are going through.  Maybe part of the real estate exam should be to see how well us … (1 comments)

Making YouTube Videos Free on your computer - 01/03/09 02:16 PM
Ever wonder how agents are able to get their listings on YouTube without using some fancy software they try to sell us?  All of you with a windows operating system should already have the free software on your computer that will allow you to easily create "virtual tours/movies" of your listings.  Better yet make one of your community and post it.  For Broker/Owners post one of a testimonial and tour of your office for recruitment.
The program is Windows Movie Maker.  Just click on start, then programs and look for Windows Movie Maker.  There are a lot of great tutorials online … (10 comments)

Meetup.com - Great way to organize your office and your recruitment! - 01/03/09 10:41 AM
I first started using Meetup.com as a way to generate leads for investors and have since found numerous other uses for this easy to manage website.
I have since found that Meetup.com has been a great FREE resource for getting our office training and recruiting organized and marketed.  On Meetup.com you can organize several different groups.  It is a great idea to have one for your office that all the agent in your office can join.  On this site you can schedule your weekly office meetings, training schedule, open houses, and more.  The information can be kept private so your competition will not … (7 comments)
