social media: The BEST Thing I Did For My Business in 2011 - 01/04/12 02:59 PM
By far the best thing that I did for my business in 2011 was to sign up for and implement what I learned from the IMSD (Internet Marketing Specialist Designation Course) I have been a technology trainer in real estate for the past 15 years. Last year when I met Ben Kinney I decided it would be better for me to endorse his program than to try come up with training material on own because these guys have it mastered! IMSD developed this training for real estate professionals who see the immense potential in online marketing but can't seem to get (2 comments)
social media: Stop Procrastinating and Get to Work! - 05/12/11 02:20 PM
That's right, I said it! As a matter of fact I've been saying it for at least 15 years (mostly to myself). I remember a conversation I had with a fellow agent years ago where he asked; "Why do you help everyone and tell them how to do what you are doing?" Without even thinking about it or realizing how true it would hold up to be I shrugged my shoulders and said "Because most people are never going to do it and those that DO make the effort deserve the help" While driving to RainCamp Charlotte a few months ago (5 comments)

social media: Wordless Wednesday - Should agents or clients learn to keep their mouth shut? - 10/14/09 02:42 PM
As funny as this video is it is also sad to see watch. I am relatively active in most of the major social media sites and often find agents pushing their services and houses on people in their social network. As you watch this video think about how important it is to listen and what we could learn if we practiced being Wordless more than just on Wednesday.

social media: A Trail of Toast... Tracking your Tweets on Twitter - 10/14/09 01:02 PM
I have to admit that this week Twitter Tuesday had me feeling like Toast. Not like eating it this week but feeling like it. So I apologize that as much as I wanted to get the Twitter Tuesday Tip out yesterday I just couldn't get the energy together to do it. The good thing about being under the weather is that I have had a chance to spend time playing around learning a few more Twitter tools. As many of you know I wrote ablog a few weeks ago on Tweetdeck. Hopefully you have had an opportunity to check it out (10 comments)

social media: Tuesday is for Twitter Tips, Toast and Treats - 10/06/09 08:52 PM
Happy Twitter Tuesday! Tweetlister is the Twitter Treat of the week! My 2 year old loves Tuesdays. It is amazing that at such a young age we can get used to routine and expect the same things to occur at the same time. Every morning when we drive to daycare she tells me what they are going to have for morning snack. She asks what day is it and I tell her Tuesday. She says "Yah!" and claps her hands. The rest of the way to daycare she is is saying "toast" which means she wants french toast. Apparently they have (21 comments)
social media: Inexpensive Domain Hosting & Domain Purchasing w/Great Customer Support - 09/29/09 10:34 AM
$3.95/month with FREE Domain name, unlimited space, unlimited email, wordpress plugin and more... (the more is over my head because I'm not that tech savvy:) I have recently been setting up a website for the Social Media training that I am doing and my WordPress blog. I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions on Twitter and Facebook to get recommendations for a good hosting company. In my search I found JustHost and have been so thrilled with how easy it is to use and what great customer service they have. I have 7 accounts hosted with GoDaddy and have been a customer (7 comments)
social media: Tweetdeck - Making Twitter Easier - 09/24/09 08:52 AM
TweetDeck - A Must Have Application for Tweeters As some of you know I am starting a series of "Getting to know Twitter" blogs. One of the things that stood out most to me was that there are a lot of new Tweeter in the real estate business. As if getting rid of the mls books wasn't hard enough for some...(yes folks at one time we had a phone book sized monstrosity that actually come to our office every two weeks). Social media has changed the way we market our business and build relationships and is going to continue to change it at a (14 comments)
social media: Trouble with Twitter - Need a Good laugh? - Funny Twitter Video - 09/23/09 07:23 PM
As many of you know I am starting a series of blogs to hopefully encourage more of you to take advantage of Twitter. I have found from the repsonse to my first couple of posts that there are a lot of new Tweeters and even more still exploring the option. I am working on a blog post for morning explaining TweetDeck. But I thought for this post I would lighten it up a little bit with a funny video. This is the FUNNIEST video about Twitter out there. Are you still wondering what the hype is all about? Do you have (10 comments)
What is the Twitter thingy anyway? And "what does THAT have to do with real estate?" There is a large number of top real estate professionals using Twitter so there must be something to this Tweeting right? It seems like there is a big divide between the agents that just "get it" and use Twitter everyday as part of their real estate business, those who are new but tying so hard to get it, those who just don't get it and those who don't want to hear anything about it. Where do you fall in? I have found Twitter to be one of the most (9 comments)
This is a question I have heard several times recently. Two most recent times that stood out were by "Social Media Experts" in the real estate industry. The first was in a social media training hosted by our local Board of Realtors. The instructor was speaking about things like Facebook, Linkedin, Zillow and Trulia for real estate agents as a the main social media networks. I was half paying attention and tweeting at the same time when I heard him say... "I'm not sure what the use of Twitter is for real estate agents... Is there anyone in the room that (12 comments)

social media: Attention my Fellow Twitter Friends... Add yourself to the user powered Twitter directory - 03/25/09 12:24 PM
Twitter has a great new user powered directory. As we all know it is important to be listed in as many popluar websurfing places as possible. I have recently found a new addition to that list... http://wefollow.com/ You can list yourself in 3 different directory titles. With the growing popularity of Twitter it is important for us to be listed in these heavily used directories. The best thing about being listed in this directory has been the number of followers that have found me straight from the wefollow.com site. (6 comments)
