The State of California Is Moving - 04/29/07 09:50 PM

Where to? A U.S. geology survey reveals that the state of California is moving at a quarter inch a year - north, towards Washington State. That explains the series of earthquake faults in Western Washington.  One of the newly discovered faults is located near Bellingham, by the Canadian border.  The squeeze on the "Evergreen State" elevates the state to an earthquake country.

It's Us or Fish - 04/27/07 03:25 AM

Basically, it boils down to us, humans versus fish.  According to the Tribune today, Alameda County Superior Court Judge Frank Roesch has given the California Department of Water Resources 60 days to comply with environmental laws protecting the fish or stop pumping water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta into the California Aqueduct.  The fish being threatened include chinook salmon and delta smelt.  Both are protected by the California Endangered Species Act.  A decision should be made in early May, '07.
How does this impact the Central Coast?  Eleven agencies in San Luis Obispo County receive water from the State.  The following two agencies that receive … (0 comments)

REVIEW OF SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL SALES - MORRO BAY, CA
JANUARY TO MARCH 2007 VS. JANUARY TO MARCH 2006
Presently, real estate activity in Morro Bay continues to be sluggish at best.  We were encouraged by the flurry of activity at the beginning of this year.  We saw more pending sales. For a short while, prices appeared to be stabilizing.  Now as we approach Spring, buying activity seems to have stalled.
Let's take a look at the home sales for the first quarter of 2007.  Compared to the same period last year, the median home prices showed a decline by about … (0 comments)

DEVELOP OR DOWNSIZE? THE "CAYUCOS DEL MAR PROJECT" - 04/10/07 02:51 AM

Growth is inevitable, even in the small town of Cayucos, with 3,000 population.  One impending huge development is being proposed at the junction of Ocean Boulevard and Old Creek Road in South Cayucos, east of Highway One: a neighborhood that is primarily residential.  The development - a first in this part of town - will include a three-storey commercial building/complex with four condominiums, 17-room hotel, retail spaces and a underground carpark   Many residents are alarmed and concerned at the character of the project and the increase in traffic, noise, pollution, pedestrian safety, water and sewage, and commercial/parking issues that will be brought about if the project … (1 comments)
