~The headwaters of the San Antonio River are a small bubbling spring on the grounds of the University of the Incarnate Word. 
~The 21 story Milam Building, downtown, was the first fully air-conditioned high-rise building in the U.S. It was built in 1928 and the system used pipes that carries the chilled water past fans which circulated the cool air throughout the building.
~Chili was invented in San Antonio in the 18th Century. It officially was introduced to the rest of the nation at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893.

A 10 day salute to German Sausage!  Nov. 4-13:  Wurstfest
Just a short drive up IH-35 north from San Antonio to New Braunfels is Wurstfest, a Texas Hill Country celebration rich in German culture and lots of Texas fun! There will be a variety of entertainment venues to enjoy, including a polka contest, games, rides, as well as food and drinks on the Wurstfest Grounds in Landa Park.  Also on the agenda are special events throughout New Braunfels and Comal County.
