shirley parks: Kitchen Remodeling~Induction Cooktops - 05/23/09 01:34 AM
Whether you are remodeling your kitchen or just replacing your cooktop, you may want to consider an induction cooktop.  The main benefits of induction cooking are speed and energy efficiency.
Induction is not like cooking with electric or gas heat, but the results of induction heating have the same affect on food. An induction cooktop does not generate any heat but generates an electro-magnetic field that causes the metal of the pan itself to get hot with all of the energy being transfered directly to the bottom of the pan so that no heat is lost in the process. You can cook … (7 comments)

shirley parks: ~Wordless Wednesday~Red, White & Blue~ - 05/20/09 06:46 AM

The Lone Star Flag was adopted as the national flag of the Republic of Texas on January 24, 1839. It was first introduced in the Third Congress of the Republic by William Wharton.  The Lone Star Flag represents the fourth of the Six National Flags of Texas.
The flag was adopted as the state flag when Texas became the 28th state to join the union in 1845. The blue stands for loyalty, the white represents purity, and the red is for bravery, as does the colors of the flag of the United States.  The designer of the Texas flag is unknown.

shirley parks: ~Selling Your House? Keep It Fresh!~ - 05/16/09 04:21 AM
Unless you are a neat freak by nature, constantly keeping your home in show ready condition for viewing by potential buyers can be a challenge. After all, it is where you live.

On a daily basis, keep a basket or … (8 comments)

Recently I read a story about the actress Florence Henderson and a wardrobe stylist who worked with her.  Since the stylist had lost his Mom and missed her deeply, Florence gave him her address and instructed him that if he ever felt sad about his mother on … (10 comments)
