Tax free shopping holiday begins tomorrow, August 21.
This year for the first time school supplies have been added to the tax-free shopping list. This should help many parents save by shopping during the upcoming tax free holiday, which runs Friday through Sunday.
Texas shoppers will be exempt from local and state sales taxes for many school-related items during this time. Shoppers should save about 8% or $8 on every $100 spent.  The Texas comptroller has exempted from sales tax clothing and footwear under $100, backpacks under $100 for elementary and secondary students, and layaway items.

Texas homeowners looking to remodel or upgrade their home will get a big sales tax break on energy efficient purchases this Memorial weekend.  To qualify for the tax-free offer, which in San Antonio will save residents 8.125 percent in sales tax, purchases must be Energy Star-qualified.
You can purchase everything from air conditioning units to compact fluorescent light bulbs tax-free over Memorial Day weekend, May 23 through 25.

As one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year, Tax Free Weekend has been highly publicized but here goes again.  You won't save a fortune but you will save money by shopping this weekend, Friday through Sunday.  North Star Mall and The Shops at La Cantera are extending hours over the Tax Free weekend.
