san antonio: Terrell Hills: a great place to live in San Antonio, Texas - 10/22/09 06:40 PM
I have lots of favorite neighborhoods. Terrell Hills is one of them. It's not only a neighborhood, it's an incorporated city, located north of downtown and west of Fort Sam Houston. My favorite neighborhoods have one thing in common: lots of trees. The homes in Terrell Hills have trees and a lot (7 comments)
san antonio: After the rains - another unworldly being appears in my garden in Schertz - Cibolo, Texas - 10/14/09 08:11 AM
Yesterday, the downpours in the San Antonio area finally stopped. In a few weeks, we went from being on the verge of Stage 3 drought restrictions to having an overflowing pool and a leaking roof.
When the sun came out, I surveyed our yard to see if any more visitors had arrived, taking (25 comments)
san antonio: Friday fun! Advertising a listing on the MLS with lots of--okay, four--photos - 10/09/09 12:04 PM
I found a link to the MLS from a couple of years ago, when I posted my first blog about bad MLS photos and agents' descriptions of their listings. This listing went to another agent after 331 days on the market.
In those days, before the local board changed the MLS (3 comments)
san antonio: South Texas weather: the calm before the rest of the storm - 10/04/09 12:20 PM
This morning's thunderstorm, or rather thunderstorms, brought record-setting amounts of rain to the San Antonio area. The 1942 record of rainfall within a 24-hour period was broken when the San Antonio airport received 5.42 inches.
Our house in Cibolo, right next door to Schertz, did not escape from the torrent. I didn't (9 comments)
san antonio: Every silver lining has its cloud - 09/22/09 02:06 PM
That post I wrote earlier today, about the rain hopefully ending the drought in south Texas? Possibly going to be part of a series?
Well, a few minutes ago, I sashayed through my sunroom to look out in the yard and watch the downpour and I heard a strange "plink." I (10 comments)
san antonio: Texas weather: when it rains, it pours - 09/22/09 09:49 AM
Trite, but true! The weather in Texas doesn't do anything by halves. It suddenly started raining again early this morning, and has been raining pretty heavily for the last couple of hours. The forecast calls for more showers for the next few days. Hurrah! I never thought I'd be so happy (8 comments)
san antonio: Celebrating with drinks on the River Walk, San Antonio, Texas - 09/21/09 06:59 PM
My husband's friend Andrea came to visit us from Italy recently. We went down to the River Walk one afternoon, as everyone should do, and after walking around for a while, we got thirsty and stopped for a drink at one of the many restaurants.
Andrea was amazed at the Texas-sized serving (12 comments)
san antonio: Who gets to choose the title company? The seller? The buyer? OMG, the agent?! - 09/14/09 03:13 PM
Ken Brand recently wrote a post about who has the right to choose the title company. It got me thinking. The rationale I usually hear is that since the seller customarily pays for the title policy, they get to decide. Presumably, sellers are familiar with all the title companies in town and (8 comments)

This home has just been refreshed and renewed with more neutral-colored paint in the living areas. Thanks to the recent rains, the grass is looking greener and the landscaping is perking up. The sellers spent tens of thousands of dollars planting mature trees and flowering shrubs, and they maintained the home (5 comments)

san antonio: At last! Third time is a charm: we got some rain last night - 08/28/09 09:35 AM
You ActiveRainers must have been doing your best rain dance. Finally, after two spectacular thunderstorms in the last few days that were entertaining, but disappointingly did not bring any rain, the one last night did. It was wonderful.
We still need lots of rain, though. The drought affecting San Antonio and (7 comments)
san antonio: Where is this famous window, and what is it called? - 08/27/09 05:52 PM
Yes, you guessed it. It's the Rose Window (La Ventana de la Rosa) at Mission San Jose in San Antonio. The San Jose mission was established on the San Antonio River in 1720 and is considered a model for the other missions. It's also the best preserved. The National Park Service manages the (10 comments)
san antonio: It happened to me! And I reacted just the way any other seller would - 07/25/09 09:49 AM
After our last batch of tenants moved out, I decided it was time to sell this rental house and simplify my life a little. It was our first home when my husband and I moved back to San Antonio, and it became our first rental property when we found a better home (4 comments)
san antonio: A beautifully remodeled garden home at 8209 Windway in Windcrest, TX - 07/20/09 05:35 PM
I love these remodeled homes in older, closer-in neighborhoods like Windcrest. You have the advantage of being in an established, convenient neighborhood close to amenities, plus an updated home to add to your comfort. The sellers did a great job updating this home and enhancing the landscaping.

san antonio: You know you need a vacation when you forgot you sold a home - 07/19/09 10:43 AM
Up until yesterday, I thought there were only two streets in San Antonio on which I'd sold more than one home. But as I was going through my spreadsheet and updating my sales data from last week's closings, I realized that I had another street to add to my list. I had just sold (9 comments)
