Great Wyoming Buffalo Stampede 2011. 5K and 10K
Downstate Delaware Striders and Riders is sponsoring a 5K and 10K event on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 8AM. The location is Wyoming Park in Wyoming, Delaware. Registration begins at 7AM.
The races are on an out and back course on mostly paved roads through orchards and scenic countryside. New this year, chip timing and technical shirts. Post race will include live music, beer, soda, shade and picnic tables. Food and beverages available at a nominal cost.

Dos Locos Fajita and Stonegrill Restaurant is proud to sponsor its first 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Race starts at 7:30 AM rain or shine. The starting line is at the Boardwalk at Wilmington Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

2011 Race for the Ribbon
The Fourth Annual Race for the Ribbon will be held on Saturday, June 4. Start time is 7:30 AM. Proceeds from the first three years are over $30,000 and goes to The American Cancer Society.
The race will take place at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware. There will be a 1 mile walk and a 5K run.

Relay for Life of Milford, Delaware
This year's American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Milford, Delaware will be held Friday, June 17 through Saturday, June 18 from 6PM until 8AM. The location is the track behind the Milford Middle School on Lakeview Drive.
The Survivor Reception begins at 5PM. The Opening Ceremony will start at 6PM with a Survivor and Caregiver Lap around the track. Registered Survivors will receive a T shirt and lapel pin. There will be a Kid's Walk at 8PM for children under the age of 12.

Delaware Veterans Home Caregivers Carnival
The Delaware Veterans Home is having its 3rd Annual Carnival tomorrow, Saturday, May 21 from 10-3. The home is located at 100 Delaware Veterans Boulevard in Milford Delaware, off Airport Road.  
There will be two bands, a DJ, food and carnival games. Residents and staff are admitted free; others $4.00. The admission fee includes a hotdog, chips and drink. Carnival games cost 25 cents and up.
Most of the Veterans don't get to leave the facility due to health related issues so this way they can spend some quality time with their friends and family while having fun.

The 7th Annual Georgetown Library 5K Run/Walk and One Mile Walk will be held on Friday June 17, 2011 at 7PM. Both courses start and end at North Bedford Street Park, Georgetown, Delaware.

The Second Annual Peace, Love and Horseshoe Crab Festival will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011. Location is the DuPont Nature Center; from 9:00 - 4:00; rain or shine.
The festival celebrates the annual migration of the red knot birds from Brazil to Canada. One of their stops is along Delaware's shoreline of the Delaware Bay. They feed on the horseshoe crab eggs to fuel up for the next leg of their long journey.

Lewes Summer Music Concert Series starts its Seventh Season on May 31st. The concerts will be held at Stango Park, behind the Lewes Public Library, in Lewes, Delaware. Concerts are free and begin at 7PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

The 54th Annual Milford Hospital Fair will be held on May 20 and 21 at the Milford Middle School. Proceeds from this year's event will be to purchase new dialysis equipment.
A talent contest is being added this year with "Milford's Got Talent". Three age groups; under 13, 13-18 and over 18. A qualifying round will be held on Friday evening at the school's auditorium at 6:30.   A barbeque pork and chicken dinner will start at 5PM. A Paying It Forward Kind of Day
Today was a very nice day. I got started early with grocery shopping. On my way out I noticed some women and young girls setting up a bake sale. So, after I unloaded my groceries and took the cart back up, I stopped by. They were happy to have a customer. I bought a few goodies. They appreciated my support of their efforts. And, I really enjoyed the goodies later in the day.

The 62nd Annual Delmarva Chicken Festival will be held June 17 and 18 in Georgetown, Delaware. The Greater Chamber of Commerce of Georgetown will host the event to be held at Delmarva Christian High School.
The annual event is sponsored by the Delmarva Poultry Industry. The famous giant fry pan will be on hand to fry chicken. There will be an arts and crafts show, home and trade show, musical  entertainment, carnival, children's activiites and plenty of food and beverage concessions.

The Bank of Delmarva is hosting it's fourth annual Relay for Life Golf Tournament. It is scheduled for Friday May 20, 2011 and will be held at Nutter's Crossing in Salisbury, Maryland.

Fifer Orchards will be hosting a Strawberry Festival on Saturday, May 21 from 10-4.  There will be plenty to do, eat and enjoy, all while listening to free live bluegrass music. Fifer Orchards is located in Camden-Wyoming, Delaware; just south of Dover.

The 78th Annual Dover Days Festival with traditional Maypole dancing will be held this weekend, May 6-8, 2011.  All activities and parking are free.
