The location is Wyoming Park in Wyoming, Delaware. Registration begins at 7AM. The races are on an out and back course on mostly paved roads through orchards and scenic countryside. New this year, chip timing and technical shirts. Post race will include live music, beer, soda, shade and picnic tables. 2011 Race for the Ribbon The Fourth Annual Race for the Ribbon will be held on Saturday, June 4. Start time is 7:30 AM. Proceeds from the first three years are over $30,000 and goes to The American Cancer Society. The race will take place at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware. There will be a 1 mile walk and a 5K run. This race is part of Seashore Striders Racing Schedule and is part of the Championship Series. Relay for Life of Milford, Delaware This year's American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Milford, Delaware will be held Friday, June 17 through Saturday, June 18 from 6PM until 8AM. The location is the track behind the Milford Middle School on Lakeview Drive. The Survivor Reception begins at 5PM. The Opening Ceremony will start at 6PM with a Survivor and Caregiver Lap around the track. Registered Survivors will receive a T shirt and lapel pin. Delaware Veterans Home Caregivers Carnival The Delaware Veterans Home is having its 3rd Annual Carnival tomorrow, Saturday, May 21 from 10-3. The home is located at 100 Delaware Veterans Boulevard in Milford Delaware, off Airport Road. There will be two bands, a DJ, food and carnival games. Residents and staff are admitted free; others $4.00. The admission fee includes a hotdog, chips and drink. Carnival games cost 25 cents and up. Location is the DuPont Nature Center; from 9:00 - 4:00; rain or shine. The festival celebrates the annual migration of the red knot birds from Brazil to Canada. One of their stops is along Delaware's shoreline of the Delaware Bay. They feed on the horseshoe crab eggs to fuel up for the next leg of their long journey. Concert Series in Lewes, Delaware Lewes Summer Music Concert Series starts its Seventh Season on May 31st. The concerts will be held at Stango Park, behind the Lewes Public Library, in Lewes, Delaware. Concerts are free and begin at 7PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. A Paying It Forward Kind of Day Today was a very nice day. I got started early with grocery shopping. On my way out I noticed some women and young girls setting up a bake sale. So, after I unloaded my groceries and took the cart back up, I stopped by. They were happy to have a customer. I bought a few goodies. They appreciated my support of their efforts. And, I really enjoyed the goodies later in the day. In the afternoon, my husband and I attended a fundraising event for the benefit of animals. Delmarva Chicken Festival The 62nd Annual Delmarva Chicken Festival will be held June 17 and 18 in Georgetown, Delaware. The Greater Chamber of Commerce of Georgetown will host the event to be held at Delmarva Christian High School. The annual event is sponsored by the Delmarva Poultry Industry. The famous giant fry pan will be on hand to fry chicken.
