U Just Ask Group Created to Help Area Needy in Milford Delaware - 09/23/11 08:46 PM
A group of women in Milford have formed a group named U Just Ask to help the needy in the area. ASK is an acronym for Actively Supporting with Kindness. They plan on initiating a winter coat drive, Thanksgiving dinners, school uniforms, and toys at Christmas. They are looking for vounteers to help with these efforts. Activities include delivering items, wrapping gifts, etc. The first community wide event will be a "Pay It Forward Day" scheduled for September 28. They hope to schedule one each month. Making Home Affordable Program In Action - 09/22/11 09:57 PM
A couple called me in regards to a newspaper article I had written about home loan refinancing. After reviewing their credit, income, the current loan balance and estimated value of their home I was able to offer them a loan product provided by Making Home Affordable. Their current loan is a Fannie Mae loan so they can qualify for the DU Refi Plus loan program. They were able to reduce their interest rate from 5.625% to 3.841% and reduce their housing payment by $250 per month. They have a home equity loan that will be paid off in 32 months. The 21st Annual German Oktoberfest will be held at St. John's Church in Milford, Delaware on Friday and Saturday, October 7-8, 2011. It begins Friday, October 7 at 6PM with The Funsters. St. John's Church is located on the corner of Seabury Avenue and School Place. The event is a celebration of European cultures with live entertainment, food and fun. The international food court will feature traditional German entrees along with Italian, Polish, Hispanic and Filipino dishes. The Fourth Annual Wings and Wheels will take place Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Sussex County Airport in Georgetown, Delaware. The event will feature vintage aircraft and classic cars. Many food vendors and assorted arts and craft exhibitors, kids games, entertainment will be on hand. WWII Veteran programs and re-enactments will fill the day. Something new is being added this year. Housing Payment $599; Amazing but True I had the pleasure of taking a loan application for a young woman today that will be a homeowner by the end of October with a home payment of $599. The seller is paying all closing costs. And, she'll have the upfront money she pays for an appraisal and home inspection refunded to her when she goes to closing. The loan is the USDA 100% Guaranteed Rural Housing Home Loan. I locked her rate in today at 3.95% with the seller paying 2.5 points. Make A Wish Triathlon, September 24, Bethany Beach, Delaware The 28th Annual Make A Wish Triathlon will be held on September 24, 2011 at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Delaware. The event is open to 1000 participants. The triathlon consists of a 1.5 mile ocean swim, 41K bike and 10K run. This event can be done as individuals or relay teams. Nanticoke Powwow in Millsboro, Delaware, September 10-11 The 34th annual celebration of Native American Culture will be held on September 10-11, 2011. The Nanticoke Powwow takes place off Route 24 just west of the Route 5 intersection. One of the anticipated events is the Jingle Dance which originated with the Ojibwe in the Great Lakes region. It is also called the Healing Dance. It was originally danced as a means of healing a medicine man's granddaughter. The grounds open at 10AM on Saturday.
