East Tennessee, a great place to be

From the eastern foothills of the Smoky Mountains to the Cumberland Plateau, East Tennessee is a wealth of natural wonders with all the forests, wetlands, cedar glades, creeks, rivers, lakes, mountains, caves, and waterfalls to choose from. The state's 54 state parks have recently received a National Gold Medal Award for Excellence. Where to begin?

If you start at the eastern border of North Carolina, you're at or near Smoky Mountain National Park at Gatlinburg, Tennessee's most popular park destination. At the main entrance to the park, the city of Ober Gatlinburg has evolved to become one of the top vacation destinations in the country! Area attractions such as Pigeon Forge, Dollywood, and the Knoxville Zoo are sure to keep the family busy any time of the year.

When traveling through the area, bring your camera and be sure to take a few back roads to enjoy the mountain, lakes, and idyllic rural scenery - Tennessee at it's best. Everywhere you go, beautiful East Tennessee offers mild weather and true southern hospitality.
