LAKE PEND OREILLE FISHERY RECOVERY PROGRAM...Save the Lake Pend Oreille Fishery! - 11/28/09 06:38 PM
When my out-of-town friends visit Sandpoint, Idaho and Lake Pend Oreille, they are always amazed that there is actually a bounty on some of the best tasting fish in the world. Every lake trout of any size and rainbow trout more than 13 inches long harvested from Lake Pend Oreille through March, 2010, pays $15.00!
This opportunity is pretty amazing and easy to cash in on.

IT’S THANKSGIVING AND I MOWED THE LAWN TODAY! - 11/25/09 07:32 PM
IT’S THANKSGIVING AND I MOWED THE LAWN TODAY!

As I was mowing the lawn today, I kept thinking, “Man, this has ‘blog’ written all over it!”  I don’t blog JUST for the fun of it.  I also want my “thousands” of followers to understand that life in Sandpoint, Idaho is NOT your typical 48º: 18' N. latitude experience. (We’re only 8º south of Moscow, Russia for God’s sake!).
So, what’s my point?  Sandpoint is special!  The lawn is green, Schweitzer Mountain has had 45” of snow so far this season and is opening Friday, heat bills are nominal and I … (7 comments)

THANKFUL THURSDAY! SNOWBIRDS...AVERT YOUR GAZE! - 11/20/09 12:57 AM
THANKFUL THURSDAY! SNOWBIRDS...AVERT YOUR GAZE!
Looks like we'll get our Thanksgiving opening this year at Schweitzer Mountain...and it is still coming down!  The forecast is for SNOW every day for the next 5 days.  Nothing like a little "white stuff" to spur condo sales!

This is the snowy view from about 4,500 feet at THE RIDGE...still three 3-bedroom condos available up here.

DO NOT move to SANDPOINT! ...unless you are willing to PLAY as hard as you work! - 11/15/09 09:07 PM
DO NOT move to SANDPOINT!
I have coveted a life in Sandpoint, Idaho ever since I discovered this mountain town in the early 70's.  Life's twists and turns did not allow me to actually move here full-time until 2005.  I had many valid reasons for delaying the inevitable and I stand by them.  One of the big reasons, however, was that I was worried Sandpoint wasn't ready for me.
I'm a tennis player.  I have been playing year around (indoors and outdoors) for the last thirty years.  This included local and regional tournaments, USTA leagues (summer and winter), fanatical tennis buddies … (6 comments)

SPEECHLESS SUNDAY: The SANDPOINT calm before the storm. - 11/07/09 10:07 PM
This is what I saw on my way to Starbucks this morning.  That's Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort in the distance with a skiff of snow showing.  I'm constantly awed by the beauty here in Sandpoint, so I never go anywhere without my camera.  As always, the camera really doesn't do it justice.

It wasn't long after this shot that "the storm" came through and dumped 12" of snow at Schweitzer Mountain.

First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended Into 2010 in IDAHO! - 11/07/09 12:01 AM

First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit Extended Into 2010! Plus...A New Tax Credit for Certain Existing Home Owners!

It's official. President Obama has signed a bill that extends the tax credit for first-time homebuyers (FTHBs) into the first half of 2010. This program had been scheduled to expire on November 30, 2009.
In addition to extending the tax credit of up to $8,000 through June 30, 2010, the extension measure also opens up opportunities for others who are not buying a home for the first time.
So Who Gets What?
The program that has existed for FTHBs remains intact with the … (2 comments)
