sandpoint idaho: WACANID Ride - Bike ride of a lifetime - Sandpoint, Idaho - 09/28/11 07:33 AM

Sunday, September 24th, marked the conclusion of the iconic 3rd Annual WACANID Ride...a 340 mile (550 kilometer) 5-day ride winding through and around the Selkirk Mountain range of the Inland Northwest (North Idaho, Eastern Washington & Western Canada).  The tour meanders along the scenic rivers and lakes of Sandpoint and North Idaho and on to the INTERNATIONAL SELKIRK LOOP, recognized as one of the "Top 10 Scenic Destinations in the Northern Rockies" named by the U.S. Department of Transportation, one of five "Best of the Roads" named by Rand McNally 2009, and the "West's Best Scenic Drive" by Sunset Magazine.

sandpoint idaho: Another listing in Utopia! 750 Rustling Leaf Road, Priest River, Idaho - 08/30/11 11:35 AM
This is getting ridiculous.  My listings are looking like a travelogue in Utopia.  Here is another one:
750 RUSTLING LEAF ROAD
(CLICK HERE TO VIEW MLS LISTING)

How much is the view alone worth?  I guess it depends on what it is that makes us whole.  For some of us, this is all we need.  There is so much beauty here in North Idaho, but I was astonished when I first ventured out to 750 Rustling Leaf Road for my listing appointment.  It kind of takes the breath away.  That is the Pend Oreille River off in the distance as … (4 comments)

sandpoint idaho: Sandpoint, Idaho voted MOST BEAUTIFUL SMALL TOWN IN AMERICA! - 07/21/11 09:56 AM
Well, this is worth a blog!  USA Today/Rand McNally spent several weeks on the road with the goal of discovering the most spectacular towns in America.  (Click here to see the article).  The results are not all that surprising.  Sandpoint took the honor of MOST BEAUTIFUL!
(Below is a photo of the "Starbuck's dock" located in the center of town.  There is just something kind of special about arriving at Starbucks by boat in the morning.)

The great thing about Sandpoint is that it keeps getting better!  The DSBA (Downtown Sandpoint Business Association), along with the Chamber, Sandpoint Rotary … (4 comments)

sandpoint idaho: SCHWEITZER MOUNTAIN LIFESTYLE. Mountain Luxury in the White Pine Lodge. - 06/02/11 06:22 PM
People often ask me, "How do you like working on the mountain?  What's it like in the summer?"
My reply?
"This is THE greatest place to work...and even better to play!"  It's true, Schweitzer had an EPIC snow year with some of the best powder skiing The Rockies have ever seen but summer can be almost as exhilerating!  The weekend music festivals are fast approaching. Biking & hiking will take a little longer...there is still about six feet of snow on the Schweitzer slopes.

But, you know what they say, "It's Springtime in the Rockies and I'm full of … (1 comments)

sandpoint idaho: SPEECHLESS SUNDAY: Memorial Day on Kootenai Bay, Sandpoint, Idaho - 05/29/11 02:09 PM
It has not been a "perfect Spring" for most of us this year...Sandpoint included.  It was nice to wake up this morning to a real Spring day!  After 3 hours of tennis this morning, one hour devoted to real estate and a few hours working in the yard...this is how the day ended.  A "Corona Moment".  It doesn't get much better.  Happy Memorial Day weekend!

The more often we can see the beauty in this world, the better the world will be.  Sandpoint, Idaho...it NEVER disappoints.

sandpoint idaho: THE RIDGE AT SCHWEITZER...this ain't no Aspen...it's BETTER! - 12/14/10 09:55 AM
This is a combination new listing post and regular blog post.

My wife, Jerri, and I represent The Ridge at Schweitzer…a spectacular ski mountain development at Schweitzer Mountain Resort with drop-dead views of Schweitzer’s ski runs with the addition of views of Lake Pend Oreille and surrounding mountain vistas.  The prices on The Ridge afford the opportunity to actually attain the dream (so many of us have) of owning ski area real estate either as a primary home or vacation home.

Jerri and I used to live in Aspen, Colorado and were committed to making Aspen our lifelong home.  … (7 comments)

The plane leaves for Europe at 10:15 on Wednesday.  I won't see my little grand daughter, Pepper, on American soil until sometime next summer. Enjoy her zest for life.    ...Do you think I'll miss her?

sandpoint idaho: Speechless Sunday: CONVALESCING IN SANDPOINT...it could be worse. - 08/22/10 06:02 PM

It has been a month since I had a total hip replacement.  The experience has certainly derailed my AR participation while I have adjusted my schedule to do what I can to maintain my Real Estate career.
I'm not complaining, however.  I get to convalesce in Sandpoint, Idaho.  Just for the record, those are my feet hanging at the end of the dock...just another reason I call Sandpoint home...Sacred Heart Medical Center and Lake Pend Oreille.  It could be worse.

sandpoint idaho: WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: The lupine have sprouted from nowhere! - 06/16/10 01:47 PM
I just couldn't pass up this WORDLESS WEDNESDAY post.  I arrived back in "utopia" (Sandpoint, Idaho) this morning after a two week absence while visiting friends and family in Minnesota.  It was astounding to come back to an explosion of wild lupine on our side hill.  It kind of put an exclamation mark on why I missed this place so badly.  (Nothing against Minnesota...it just isn't North Idaho).

sandpoint idaho: Summer in Sandpoint...We're discovered once again! - 06/03/10 09:37 AM

Summer in Sandpoint...We're discovered once again!
Lake Pend Oreille is the most beautiful lake in the United States.
That sounds pretty extreme, but I look at it every day and am more impressed every time I see it.  I think the visual of the lake and surrounding mountains is so overwhelming (when entering Sandpoint from across the Long Bridge) that the average person has trouble processing all the information.  I can only assume this is the reason for the constant flow of stories and articles in national publications expounding upon the beauty here in North Idaho.
Here I … (4 comments)

sandpoint idaho: Sandpoint, Idaho Market Trends through April, 2010. - 05/08/10 08:48 AM
Sandpoint, Idaho Market Trends through April, 2010.
The stats are in and there are some interesting developments in sales here in Sandpoint, Idaho. The City Planners focus this year has been on the revitalization of Sandpoint's city limits and appears it has been working.  The average price is now on the rise (up 2.6% from 2009 and almost 6% from 2008) and the volume is up 80% from 2009!  I would suggest the volume increase has a lot to do with the end of the first-time home buyer program based on the fact that "days on market" increased almost 50%. It … (4 comments)

sandpoint idaho: Second homes: Having it all in Sandpoint, Idaho - 04/28/10 03:21 PM
It just wouldn't be right if I didn't reprint portions of the recent "USA Today" article about our quaint little town up here in North Idaho.  Sandpoint truly is a gem and, even though it kills me to see it discovered, when it becomes a headline story in major periodicals I just need to relax and relish in the beauty around here.  Besides, because of the rather narrow corridor between the Selkirk Mountains and the shores of Lake Pend Oreille within which Sandpoint finds itself residing, it would be hard to imagine a situation where rampant sprawl could occur.

sandpoint idaho: SPEECHLESS SUNDAY: GOLD HILL ON KOOTENAI BAY - 04/11/10 10:01 AM
GOLD HILL ON KOOTENAI BAY

Not a bad view looking across Kootenai Bay here in Sandpoint, Idaho.  Kootenai Bay is one of the "smaller" bays on Lake Pend Oreille.  It is about 3 miles across and 2 miles wide.  Now that Schweitzer Mountain is enjoying the LAST day of the ski season today, I'll be spending my quality time playing on the lake.
My office remains up at Schweitzer, however, so please do not hesitate to join me up here for "non-winter" fun (and sales with a little luck...).

sandpoint idaho: THE FIRST-TIME HOME BUYER TAX CREDIT IS STILL ATTAINABLE! - 04/01/10 04:25 PM
THE FIRST-TIME HOME BUYER TAX CREDIT IS STILL ATTAINABLE!

The home buying process can be a convoluted and even difficult process.  With the April 30th deadline fast approaching, it is imperative to be prepared and organized  to insure a successful closing and to insure first-time home buyers will qualify for their $8,000 tax credit!
The FIRST TIME HOME-BUYER must also close on their home by June 30th, 2010. If you are trying to beat that deadline, these reminders may help you avoid costly delays while in escrow.

sandpoint idaho: WHISKEY JACK CIRCLE, SANDPOINT, IDAHO – A WATERFRONT COMMUNITY - 03/30/10 05:10 PM
WHISKEY JACK CIRCLE, SANDPOINT, IDAHO – A WATERFRONT COMMUNITY

Most of us want to be a integral part of everything around us.  Not only a member of a community, but a member of the natural order of things.  When living in a town like Sandpoint, it seems to me that to be removed from the energy of the town itself, is a little defeating.  …and yet, when one chooses to live in the beauty of North Idaho, there is also that sense that we need to remove ourselves from the trappings of a modern society and return to the natural … (3 comments)
