sandpoint tennis: INLAND EMPIRE TENNIS TOURNAMENT - SANDPOINT SHINES! - 04/29/12 01:57 PM

The Inland Empire High School Tennis Tournament took place this weekend...April 27 & 28th in Spokane, Washington. This year the draw included 46 teams from Washington & Idaho and over 700 participants!  This is argueably the largest HS tennis tournament in the U.S.
As always, the competition was fierce...no distinction was placed on the size of the school.  Everyone had to compete equally.  The challenge of a small school of, perhaps, 300 students competing against the massive "big-city" schools of 2500+ students can be daunting, to say the least, but this is the stuff dreams are made of.

sandpoint tennis: Another huge year for tennis in Sandpoint, Idaho! - 06/05/11 12:37 PM
Living in Sandpoint definitely has its rewards.  Being a Coldwell Banker Realtor® on Schweitzer Mountain is reward enough...no doubt, but coaching the Sandpoint High School tennis team takes "rewards" to a whole new level.
It's all about the kids and these kids are amazing!  This Spring, Sandpoint won the District championship for the 3rd straight year and qualified a record 12 players for State!  The Sandpoint girls not only won Conference & District championships but also won the Idaho State Academic Championship with a cumulative GPA of 3.87!  The boys team suffered an "anemic" 3.5 cumulative GPA.  In other words, not … (2 comments)

sandpoint tennis: SANDPOINT WINS THE REGION 1, 4A DISTRICT TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS! - 05/16/10 04:44 PM

SANDPOINT WINS THE 2010 4A DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS!

As a good Realtor® and ambassador for Sandpoint (Idaho’s “crown jewel”) it is, once again, my duty to report the developments surrounding the amazing Sandpoint High School tennis team.

The 2010 team has successfully defended its 2009 District crown with a dominating performance in Moscow, Idaho at the University of Idaho tennis courts and Moscow’s high school courts.  The boys won 61-30 and the girls won 59-38.  The State Tournament begins Friday, May 21 in Boise at Boise State University.

Above are the individual State qualifiers.  Sandpoint set … (8 comments)

sandpoint tennis: WORDLESS WEDNESDAY: SANDPOINT SPRING means intense tennis...Don't mess with the fantasy! - 04/20/10 04:33 PM
I think it was the movie, "WEIRD SCIENCE" where my favorite line was revealed..."Don't F#%* with the fantasy!".  Moving to Sandpoint (full-time, that is) in 2005 was the answer to all my searching..."most" of my fantasies.
Today I rode the BMW to the Sandpoint/Post Falls tennis match (I coach the Sandpoint HS tennis team when I'm not selling real estate) and watched my team, once again, perform almost flawlessly.  (That's the Beamer in the background of the first picture).  It's all part of the fantasy...and here, the fantasy is real.  I've been a lot of places...I guess I'm just lucky … (10 comments)

sandpoint tennis: DO NOT move to SANDPOINT! ...unless you are willing to PLAY as hard as you work! - 11/15/09 01:07 PM
DO NOT move to SANDPOINT!
I have coveted a life in Sandpoint, Idaho ever since I discovered this mountain town in the early 70's.  Life's twists and turns did not allow me to actually move here full-time until 2005.  I had many valid reasons for delaying the inevitable and I stand by them.  One of the big reasons, however, was that I was worried Sandpoint wasn't ready for me.
I'm a tennis player.  I have been playing year around (indoors and outdoors) for the last thirty years.  This included local and regional tournaments, USTA leagues (summer and winter), fanatical tennis buddies … (6 comments)

sandpoint tennis: SANDPOINT TENNIS...FALL EDITION - 10/21/09 06:50 PM
SANDPOINT TENNIS...FALL EDITION
If you read my blog with any regularity, you'll find I am pretty impressed with North Idaho and Sandpoint, in particular.  There are many reasons for being such a "Babbit" for the area...world class skiing (SCHWEITZER MOUNTAIN RESORT), world class lake (LAKE PEND 'OREILLE - 5th deepest lake in the U.S. and not overly cold), spectacular mountains (SELKIRKS, CABINETS, BITTERROOTS) and unlimited activities for sport enthusiasts.
...But you know what is really cool?  Sandpoint Middle School is one of the VERY few Middle Schools in North Idaho to have an organized tennis program.  This is just another reason … (7 comments)

sandpoint tennis: THE BLACK DIAMOND TENNIS INVITATIONAL. SANDPOINT'S BEST TENNIS! - 08/27/09 04:46 PM
2009 marks the year that Sandpoint puts it's name on the "tennis map" with THE BLACK DIAMOND TENNIS INVITATIONAL...aptly dubbed, "The Most Beautiful Tennis Tournament in the Country!"  (Maybe the world).

Invitations were sent out to the top players from the Inland Northwest with the idea that the first 24 to respond would get the "invite".  A few hours later the tournament draw was filled.  This event will be EPIC!
Not only can we look forward to great tennis, but the event dovetails with the Schweitzer Fall Fest & Music Festival...a celebration of another great summer on … (7 comments)

REALTORS’ SURVIVAL GUIDE, PART III.  “Profiles:  Use It or Lose It.”

I guess I’ve been a little pre-occupied with the sluggish economy (is that understated, or what?) in this Series.  I hear housing starts are up .5% from the worst month in history, though.  That has to get everyone fired up!  NOT!

Anyway, as Realtors®, we are really feeling the effects of this economy.  Unemployment remains at near record levels and the figures do not include the hundreds of thousands of Realtors® who are making next to nothing…or any of the other “sales-people” in other industries who are … (41 comments)

sandpoint tennis: SANDPOINT TENNIS CAMP 2009. THIS WAS INTENSE! - 07/21/09 05:17 PM
SANDPOINT, IDAHO TENNIS
Sandpoint has a great tennis community!  Last week we hosted the 3rd annual Sandpoint Tennis Camp and it was the best yet!  Jane Rockwell (USPTA teaching pro and former Sandpoint High School coach) and Mary Jo Lambert (current Clark Fork High School coach) once again put together a 1st-class Camp.
The Sandpoint Tennis Camp started out with a Monday rainout...a rare event in the middle of July in Sandpoint.  I was the scheduled guest coach for Monday along with my good friends Tom Boulay (USPTA teaching pro from Minnesota) and Kent Stadum (USPTA teaching pro from Minnesota and … (4 comments)
