Saturday May 17 is the date of this years Tom Maynard Memorial Poker Run. This is a fun event where people travel the lake by boat and pick up cards at registersd stops around the lake. Smith Mountain lake brings all kinds of people to the area. In addition to boating and all sorts of water sports we have some of the most wounderfull golf courses you will find. We have public courses like Westlake Golf and Country club, Mariners Landing and private clibs The Waterfront, and The Waters edge. In addition to these right at the lake there are many courses within an hours drive. On Saturday June 7th the annual Pig River Ramble will get undre way. I am a lucky guy. I live, work, and play on one of the most beautiful lakes on the east coast. The sun rises over one mountain and sets over another. The water is deep and clean and turns over as it is fed by two rivers and exits at the dam through large turbins that produce electricity. Forty miles long and 500 miles of shoreline gives you years of exploring. Come visit as I did years ago and chances are that you will be back to stay.
