Alabama: Ranked First for its Competitive Labor Costs and Fourth Overall

For the third consecutive year, Alabama was among the top five states for doing business. Alabama was also first for competitive labor costs and near the top of the list for its work force development programs.

Alabama's corporate tax structure, cost of doing business, business incentives and cooperative state government are some of the sited reasones for inclusion. 

Additionally, Alabama has a comprehensive work force management system that is provided to employers at no cost by Alabama Industrial Development Training, which resulted in the state's overall labor ranking. The program (AIDT) includes recruiting, screening, and customized training. They have provided traning for companies such as Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, and Austal Ship Building. 

Alabama is a major player in the automotive industry and will soon be the 3rd largest producer in the U.S., and was ranked 4th for exports in 2011. Expansions were announced in 2011 by Hyundai, Honda and Mercedes-Benz. Due to the heavy manufacturing, TASUS, an autoparts supplier out of Japan is building a $19.1 million, plant in Florence-Lauderdale Industrial Park. 

Airbus  will bring at least 1000 jobs to Mobile, strengthening and increasing the aerospace footprint when they begin to build the A320 commercial aircraft. By the way, check out the Airbus A320 and you will be salivating to fly on this aircraft. Magnificent!

Alabama is focused on all levels of education as a foundation for drawing companies and residents to the state and has a program known as Accelerate Alabama designed to spur job creation and innovation. 

Good things are happening in Baldwin County and Mobile County Alabama. 

States ranking just ahead of Alabama, were Georgia, South Carolina and Texas as number one.
