House Approves Home Buyer Tax Credit Extension
The June 30 deadline extension for the home buyer tax credit might not be dead after all.
Several members of Congress introduced a stand-alone bill in the House today to give buyers who are currently in conctract and who have met the April 30 deadline three more months to close on their transactions.
Lucien Salvant, a spokesman for the National Association of Realtors, said the proposed Homebuyers Assistance and Improvement Act seems to have "a good chance of passing" in the House and he's hopeful it will happen today. The Senate could take it up tomorrow, … (6 comments)

Here's what's happening. HUD has always used private companies to manage the sale of HUD homes as well as perform the maintenance. For the past 2 years NHMS was in charge of the State of Ohio. They filled both roles. NHMS sold properties through local Columbus real estate agents and they hired maintenance firms to take care of the properties. Memorial Day Weekend came and went! Time to review the past 5 months of HUD homes listings.
This first chart shows the number of HUD listings available each Friday starting on January 1, 2010 till today.
Like on the HUD homes map, the color coding indicates the listing status of the specific property. Red means new listing, Yellow is a relist, Blue indicates Sunday deadline (homes that were listed a week ago on Friday) and Green is available to all bidders and investors.
