In this busy world, it's sometimes hard to keep track of all the events going on our own home towns.  Well, for Amarillo, I've found several helpful websites to help keep me up to date.
First, Amarillo Globe News has a little calendar story on their Local News page.  This list events for the next few days, along with a link on how to put your upcoming event up in the paper!

Amarillo, Texas will be celebrating Veterans Day for days before November 11.  There will also be traveling replica of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial with over 58,000 names on it coming through the city.  This will definitely be an emotional day for many Amarillo residents.

amarillo civic center: Amarillo Welcomes Gustav Evacuees - 08/29/08 05:09 AM
Over five-hundred Gustav Evacuees are expected to arrive in Amarillo, Texas in a few days, and Amarillo is welcoming them with open arms. To prepare for the evacuees, the American Red Cross is going to hold two training sessions for disaster volunteer teams.
Training sessions will be held today, August 29th, at 1800 S. Harrison at the Red Cross building. Each class will be ninety minutes long. Evacuees will be housed at the Amarillo Civic Center until the end of Gustav.
