Every now and again I enjoy leaving the Island to spend a few days on Oahu. My style is to stay at a hotel midway between shopping/movies - and Waikiki. I don't rent a car but instead find it relaxing to take my time and walk to Ala Moana Shopping Center for some "recreational shopping" or stroll down to the Ward Center Cinemas for a choice of movies. Walk a little bit further to the Restaurant Row Theatres where you'll find "slightly old" movies at only $1 anytime! It's been a relatively quiet week, except for a few closings, one of which was mine. The weather remained on the cool side, with intermittent rain along with very high surf on the North Shore. I took pictures of the waves both on Friday and Saturday but it's very hard to capture their beauty and power (at least for me) through the camera lens. Friday we had a misty rain that turned everything grey (including the cruise ship) while Saturday showed a marked improvement with periods of blue skies! Kauai February 2009 Market Statistics - 03/09/09 09:57 PM
The month of February ended with 25 sales Island wide down from 57 in February 08 but up from January 09 that only posted 20 overall sales. Year to date we have had 45 sales compared to 107 this time last year. The high point for February was in 2004 when 130 properties changed hands.
Of the 25 sales, 11 were residential, 4 vacant land, and 10 were condos. There was 1 house sold in the Waimea zone, 3 houses and 3 lots sold in Koloa zone, 1 house, 1 lot and 3 condos sold in Lihue zone, 3 homes and … (1 comments)

Here we are in March already and my taxes still aren't done! I'm usually well on my way to a refund by now but have not been able to find the time to sit down and crunch all the numbers. Last week continued with cold and rainy weather so much so that when I went out to brunch this morning I all but gave up and put on my black knit sweater (which is generally reserved for mainland cold weather) along with jeans.
