Reasons for a Realtor to Run - 12/29/07 08:45 PM
This year, I'm putting some serious thoughts into my New Year's resolutions, my goals and objectives. I am trying to be realistic. The problem is that there is only 24 hours in a day. So, in what ever I do, I need to make sure that I am getting the most bang for the buck - so to speak. I want to: 1) improve my relationship with the Lord, 2) take care of my body, 3) be a better mom and friend; and 4) to build my real estate business so that I can help as many people as possible. Oh, yeah, 5) I've also got

That motivated feeling - Top Gun - 12/28/07 02:09 PM
This morning I was thinking about one my favorite movies of all time: Top Gun. I've always loved the music, the videography, the story itself. I like this move so much that my cell phone ringer plays the Top Gun Anthem. This morning, although I may not remember the words exactly, I found myself singing along with Maverick (http://youtube.com/watch?v=oxnmql4RBN8 ) You've lost that loving feeling, Oh, oh that loving feeling. Your trying hard not to show it ..... Baby, but, baby Believe me I know it, You've lost that loving feeling, Oh that loving feeling, You've lost that loving feeling; Now it's

I love our airport! - 12/27/07 08:54 PM
Do you love your airport? On Christmas Day, I decided that I love our airport. I'm a native of the Bryan - College Station, Texas area and I think it is an asset to our area even though there are major airports within driving distance. If you drew a triangle between Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Austin, we'd be in the middle more or less. As a single mother, I've come to dread Christmas morning. That is when I have to take my two boys to the airport, put them on a plane, and watch them leave for Atlanta, Georgia so they can spend the rest of their Christmas break

What do you call them/it? - 12/23/07 06:37 PM
Alright, here it is the Eve of Christmas Eve. My entire family will be at my house tomorrow night and I really need to CLEAN. However, being an AR addict, I just had to check my email and AR. I ended up reading Dale Barker's post: Do you have a Streams on your property! Home Owner's, Home Buyer's in which he discusses Riparian Woodlands. Then I came up with this burning question, that is preventing me from cleaning house. What do you call the water that runs through a piece of property that is smaller than a river? Do you call it a creek, a stream or something

What makes something beautiful? - 12/15/07 08:08 PM
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As I was driving by Hensel Park last weekend, I saw the golden glow of the sun on the pavilion. I ended up deciding to turn around and take a picture with my digital camera. Hensel Park, owned and operated by Texas A&M, is located on South College Ave. at the north edge of the College Station city limits. Granted, that is the Aggie north. Aggie north, south, east and west are dependent on where something is in relation to the railroad tracks, Texas Avenue, Northgate and Southgate. Any, getting back to the point,

Easier Said Than Done? - 12/06/07 11:39 PM
Have you ever noticed that some things are easier said than done? Make time to work out..... Eat right...... Don't worry... Have faith, trust the Lord..... You know what, sometimes life is rough. There isn't enough time in the day. Things don't go the way we want them to. We get tired. We get discouraged. We get disappointed. We get mad. We may just want to give up. We may simply ask why? Or, "Why me?" When life has gotten you down, have you been reminded: "Trust the Lord." "Don't worry." "Have faith that everything will work out." Those reminders, straight from the bible, may

My first invite joined! - 12/05/07 05:59 PM
I am so excited and HONORED that Dan Tucker, owner of Tucker Inspections, accepted my invitation to join. That makes him my first invite to actually join. I know it may not be the safest thing to do, from a liability standpoint, but I always recommend Tucker Inspections. I tell my buyers that they are free to choose any home inspector they want, but I am willing to stake my professional reputation on Tucker Inspections. I trust Dan and James to do a good inspection. I know that he is good at explaining to the buyers what he is finding. I always encourage my buyers to be present during the inspection so

Meme oh my, what am I going to do? - 12/04/07 10:50 PM
Meme oh my, what am I going to do? Ginger Magoon http://activerain.com/blogs/ginger tagged me and left with me with a case of writers block.....Meme, oh my what am I going to come up with...5 things that most people don't know about me? 1. I hope this isn't cheating. About 4 years ago, I had a listing that had been on the market for two years withtwo other agents when I came along. After my first year, the sellers begged me not to give up. They were sweet, Christian couple. The house was nice but it had an unconventional design. Even after

Are the sellers going to take IT when they leave? - 12/02/07 04:55 PM
A relatively new agent called me to ask a few questions about one of my listings. The house was on a couple of acres, just outside of town. The conversation went something like this: Agent: "It has a septic system?" Me: "Yes. They replaced the old system with a new aerobic system about three years ago." Agent: "Are the sellers going to take it with them when they leave?" I nearly choked........ _________________ I assume that the never lived in the country. In all fairness, a lot of people that buy property in rural areas have never lived in the country. And......maybe the agent was thinking along

Roses in December??? - 12/02/07 03:03 PM
We've all heard the saying, "If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait, it will change." Here in the Bryan College Station, Texas area, there was a burn ban about three weeks ago due to the extremely dry conditions. Then right around Thanksgiving, we were blessed with rain. And, more rain. Last weekend, it was cold and rainy. The temperatures dropped into the low 40's. For us, low 40's is COLD. 30's is freezing cold. Anyway, I actually got to wear some of my winter close for the very first time this year. Some people commented, "The cold weather makes it seem more like the holiday season." That

Why is AR so Addictive? - 12/01/07 10:51 AM
Hopefully, if I can figure this question out, it would help me better serve my readers and to better explain the concept of blogging to those that are not familiar with it. I've been trying to explain the concept a lot this week as a precurser to sending out invitations to join. I normally sleep good at night. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and found myself thinking about AR. I wanted to log on and get my fix. In part, I felt bad about not responding to the people that commented yesterday before went to bed, but I didn't get home
