YouTube and You - 02/27/11 11:14 PM
I've taught a number of real estate classes, to include marketing, to persons hoping to become Realtors.   I was essentially teaching my future competition how to outperform me.   Until now, I've never questioned whether I should "hold back" on something that could give another Realtor a competitive advantage.   But today, as in the past, I'll share a tip because I believe it will ultimately help real estate buyers and sellers.  In turn, happy buyers and sellers will be inclined to speak nicely about their Realtors which is in turn good for the real estate profession.
So...here goes.

The Beauty of Uninhabitable Areas - 02/27/11 04:04 PM
The Garden of the Gods Park remains on the top of the Colorado Springs area's "Must See List."  The park is a National Natural Landmark with its towering, red rock formations made of sandstone.   http://www.gardenofgods.com/yourvisit/index.cfm  It is merely 6 miles from downtown Colorado Springs.
Although it is very enjoyable seeing the Garden of the God's from the comfort of a car, the park offers plenty of opportunities to get out and actually experience it.  There are a variety of walking, hiking and jogging trails available.  Horseback riding and mountain climbing are also allowed.  Each time I have gone out to the … (6 comments)

Attitudes Shape Outlooks - 02/26/11 03:53 PM
Last night I got to attend the Merle Haggard/Kris Kristofferson concert that was held at the Buell Theatre in in Denver, CO.  It was a great show.     I wasn't sure what to expect since they both are kind of elderly now.
The last time I went to a concert of a "former" great, I left very disappointed.   There is nothing "former" about these two.  They put on a great show.  When I was leaving, all I heard was positive comments and people wondering how old Merle and Kris are now.   (According to this morning's Google research, they are 73 and 74 … (31 comments)

Your Blog Post: A One Night Stand or Marriage Material? - 02/23/11 12:12 AM
Does your blog post represent a one night stand or marriage material?  In other words, does it have long term potential?   Over the last couple of days, we've considered the importance of catchy titles and personality.  Thank you to everyone that has given me wonderful feedback and food for thought.
Ultimately, we have to decide, BEFORE we dress up our blog post and send it out to into the world, what our goal ultimately is.  Do we want our dear little post to shine in the spotlight for the one day?  Or do we want our post to have some long … (31 comments)

Personality Counts More Than Looks in the World of Blogging - 02/21/11 11:12 PM
What makes people want to read our blogs here on Active Rain?  Is it looks?  Is it the catchy title?  Is it useful information?  Is it the search engine ranking the blog is attracting?  Is it because the post is short and concise?  Is it because it is long and detailed? Is it because the blog discusses real estate, or SEO rankings, or is it writing about something totally random?  These all contribute in varying degrees.  However.....
As a general rule, I think it has to do more with personality than anything else.  I've noticed that successful bloggers let their personality … (34 comments)

Challenges Make Us Stronger - 02/21/11 01:18 AM
Challenges Make Us Stronger
Sometimes, it may seem like the end is no where in sight.
Remember, slow but steady.
Yes, it is human nature to want to stop.  To say you can't do it.  But, if you will push yourself you might be suprised at what you are capable of doing.
And, sooner or later, you'll reach the top.

You will be tired.  You will be weary.  You will NOT be ready to do it again.  At least not right of way.

Once you've accomplished what you … (8 comments)

Is Your Blog Title Catchy Enough? - 02/20/11 02:31 PM
Do Not:  Caress the Broom.  Do Not: Fondle the Broom
In Denver, there is a huge, 35 foot, sculpture of a broom and dustpan called the Big Sweep.  The plaque in front of the sculpture states what is appropriate behavior around a giant broom and dustpan.
You may be asking yourself: 1) If you can't fondle the broom, what can you do with it?  2)  What does this broom have to do with real estate blog titles?
Answers:
1) You are allowed to take pictures of the broom.
You are also allowed to blame the broom for the degradation of contemporary morals.
