mls: Where would NAR and the local boards be without the MLS?

I recently read two articles on Inman News that made me question, "Where would NAR and Realtor.com be without the MLS?" In many areas, if you want access to the MLS, you have to be a member of the National Association of Realtors, the respective state association and the local association. For years, people have grumbled whether NAR and Realtor.Com are truly looking out for all it's members or just those that are willing to pay for the extra marketing promotions such as upgraded websites. Have you taken down your Christmas tree? What about the outside lights? Personally, I enjoy Christmas and I’m never in a terrible rush. However, I’m not trying to sell my house either.
When seasonal pictures are left in the MLS too long, they make the listing look dated. Listings that look like they have been on the market give the perception that there may be something wrong with the house.

mls: No Excuse for Bad MLS Pictures

There is no excuse for bad MLS pictures. Years ago….the internet didn’t exist. It is my understanding that Realtors carried books around that showed what properties were on the market. Those MLS books were printed out maybe once a week. Digital cameras were unheard of. The high tech Realtors had pagers…… If people wanted photographs for their flyers, they took their film down to the store to be developed. Depending on what you purchased, a roll of film could hold between 12-36 photographs. When I started selling real estate about 15 years ago, Realtors were being highly encouraged to purchase (9 comments)
