honesty in business: Fluff-free Full Service is My Value Proposition! - 10/04/17 07:43 AM
Fluff-free Full Service is My Value Proposition!

We have responsibilities to sellers to be knowledgeable about the local market, to convey accurate, up to the minute information so an informed decision can be made. It is then up to them to take the facts and move forward as they deem fit.

Being 'real' with sellers is expected but straightforward honesty is not always welcomed. After meeting with a homeowner, I soon realized she wanted to list at a much higher amount than the market would bear.

After giving her up-to-date comparables in the neighborhood and the surrounding area she was not swayed and listed with another agent for $50K … (14 comments)

honesty in business: Day 9 of 10 Thanksgiving Challenge | Honesty - 11/21/16 11:57 PM
Day 9 of 10 Thanksgiving Challenge | Honesty

There are many aspects about HONESTY that ring true and relate to every day living. The success of every relationship depends on integrity. When shopping for a new dress with a friend, I'd want that person to relay candidly whether it looked good or not.

HONESTY can be tough to take at times, even jarring. I'd rather hear the truth than be in denial, especially when facing challenging situations. Truth in business between parties is expected. Some people fall short, while others remain genuine when following through.

Much of what is passing as news today is not truth. We are living in the National Enquirer era of news reporting. As consumers, we … (1 comments)

honesty in business: LEGO Makes Epic Stand Against the Media! - 11/12/16 01:47 AM
LEGO Makes Epic Stand Against the Media!

LEGO announced that it will no longer advertise with any newspaper or media outlet that promotes hatred, discrimination and demonisation. Let that be a clear message to sensationalized, irresponsible and inaccurate reporting of news for the sake of driving traffic to their companies. #StopFundingHate

Thank you LEGO for taking a stand amidst the turmoil taking place right now in the United States. The media is responsible for much of the fear based reporting, race and hate mongering and it has to STOP! They must be held accountable and responsible for the outcomes they incite.

This is one way to do it, … (8 comments)

honesty in business: B-Abe! - 11/04/16 06:15 AM
B-Abe!

Abraham Lincoln is one of my favorite U.S. Presidents. In his day, honest intentions ruled personal and professional relationships, not a hyped up, damaging rhetoric to fulfill an agenda. Candidates spoke more of what they could do for our country and its people, with:
Less rumor mongering Less hearsay and Less pointing dirty fingers in the faces of other peoples lives
One winner will be announced in just a few days, Tuesday, November 8th as a matter of fact. Unsure of who to vote for or whether you will vote at all? You can even show up on the 9th and cast your ballot.

It's your right. Your … (1 comments)

honesty in business: 7 Things that Can Push Business Forward. - 06/24/16 08:23 AM
7 Things that Can Push Business Forward.

Attaining success within a chosen field is definitely a singular experience. The following list contains some things that have helped during my working career and I wanted to share them with all of you.

1. Showing up on time. Do whatever it takes to maintain dependability and create trust relationships with your clients to motivate your business forward. It takes true effort on your part.

2. A Strong Work Ethic - Value all commitments and follow up and follow through. When you are unable to make an appointment, call and cancel, then reschedule. People can see right through insincerity.

3. Honesty in all things - Put the clients needs first, answer … (8 comments)

honesty in business: Call a trusted agent to verify. - 02/25/16 12:40 AM
Call a trusted agent to verify.

A past client called a couple of days ago needing information on what their home was worth because they were thinking of selling and building a new home. Someone told them they could get a certain amount of money and they wanted to verify before making such a decision.

I am glad they contacted me for several reasons:
They trust me I only use reliable sources  Their wants and needs are put first
After running some numbers in their neighborhood and surrounding communities, the results were not in their favor to make the move right now as we discussed the information … (8 comments)

honesty in business: Tank you very much! - 02/16/16 10:16 AM
Tank you very much!

By now, many of you have read the article about a real estate agent in Australia that may be fined $22,000.00 if proven that he intentionally misled the public in his marketing efforts through the use of photography.

Showing a property in its true form is the only way to go to prevent creating an environment of mistrust. Let potential home buyers decide whether they can accept the surrounding area without being falsely enticed.

In my opinion...
It is not okay for any photographer to grossly manipulate property photos toward misrepresentation, nor is it acceptable for an agent to advertise such photos online to … (18 comments)

honesty in business: Save yourself... - 02/09/16 11:33 PM
Save yourself...

Do you call them spammers or scammers? The two words are nearly identical, save one letter. There has been an influx of spamming lately here in the Rain.

Not a good message when someone is unwilling to show themselves while lurking and hiding behind a facade. It lends to a total lack of credibility.

As real estate agents, we must be transparent to the public when advertising and marketing. So if someone wishes to do business with me, it's show your self or save yourself the trouble.

Nothing less will do. Your thoughts?

honesty in business: Putting sugar on something doesn't make it a brownie. - 07/30/15 12:20 AM
Putting sugar on something doesn't make it a brownie.

Unsure of what to expect upon entry through the front door for a listing appointment, I soon got a nose full. When blatantly honest about sights and smells, would the home owner hire my services? Perhaps, if serious about selling.

Every inch of the home was cluttered, not only with clothes, books, boxes but they had several big dogs plus mystery stains on the floors. I had to breathe through my mouth because otherwise, I'd have thrown up on the matted, multi-colored carpeting.

People become accustomed to their surroundings, to them, it looks, feels and smells like home. Some may, however, get offended, unable to handle an agent pointing out the low-points along … (52 comments)

honesty in business: They trust me, they really, really trust me! - 05/18/15 11:14 AM
They trust me, they really, really trust me!

This will make referral #4 from a client couple I met back in 2011 from a sign call. At first, trust was not forthcoming from his point of view but she happily accepted me from our first meeting. During the course of finding a second home, he realized that their best interests were my main focus.

Honesty leads my business and past and present clients appreciate the straight forward approach to business. It is the most important factor that carries any relationship and strengthens connections. Following up and following through is also crucial in any business transaction.

I may not win over every potential home … (28 comments)

honesty in business: And you wear it well! - 09/29/14 08:09 AM
And you wear it well!

Getting ready for work means much more than just the clothes you wear. It's your unique style, local knowledge and being prepared for what comes that helps push you forward in business, along with:

Honesty: Put the clients needs first, be ethical and that will guide you to more successful transactions. Clients who trust you will refer you.
Professionalism: Show up on time and be enthusiastic about your business. It will show outwardly and you will be judged by it.
Knowledge: Prepare to answer any / all questions clients may have about the local market … (2 comments)

honesty in business: When in doubt, SEND IT OUT! - 04/08/11 02:03 AM
When in doubt, SEND IT OUT!
After working with a potential buyer for several months; showing several homes, many phone conversations and sending him properties, I wanted to see where he stood as far as commitment.
I sent a Buyer Broker Agreement to be signed and get this response in return: I do not think I want you as my sole realator, I have found several agents that have responded with a search on the internet. Sorry things didn't work out...
To which I responded: Good luck to you in your home search.
But what I really wanted to say: Sorry you were … (26 comments)
