Stay and Play! Vacation in St. George, Utah ~ Lexington Hotel ~ Southern Utah Businesses
During the Open House this week for the Lexington Hotel, I had an opportunity to speak with a few of the new owners, Hobart And Teresita Cabe, Ray and Adelina Zamora and Ernesto and Norma Duhanon. When they took ownership November 16, 2010, they brought every existing employee on board with them. That speaks volumes of the way they do business!

They have since spent almost a million dollars making improvements and updates throughout the hotel to increase the comfort level and stayability for their customers. The Lexington … (7 comments)

Thankful Thursdays: St. George MIDAS on Bluff Street saved us over $400!
Our appreciation goes beyond the work that was done on my car, it means so much more than that. Dave Ortez, the owner of MIDAS on Bluff Street quoted $285.00 for repair job that the dealership told me would cost over $700.00! (?)
Thank you for your integrity and excellent customer service Dave. My husband and I plan to refer your company to everyone we know who may need your services.

I received a call from the blog I did named Chess anyone?, my Speechless Sunday post! When I answered the phone, the person on the other end of the line asked me..."Is there a chess club in St. George, Utah?" In which I replied, "Yes there is."
Apparently this gentleman had read my post on the Jubilee of Trees display of a tree that has a chess theme and it piqued his interest. So, fellow bloggers keep posting, commenting and participating, you never know where your next phone call my come from!

Wordless Wednesday(almost!): The choice is clear!

Even Santa agrees!

This is one of the many imaginative Christmas scenes on display for the Annual Jubilee of Trees; from a Tim Burton - Nightmare before Christmas tree to a Dr. Suess - Horton Hears a Who scene. They were all festive and beautifully done. There was even a joyfully decorated joshua tree!

This year marked the 30th Anniversary of the Jubilee of Trees and honored ongoing breast cancer programs at Dixie Regional Medical Center.

Speechless Sunday (almost!): Nature's Highlights

Part of what makes southern Utah spectacular are the red rock formations that surround our area! While driving home from work, I noticed one part of the valley was overcast, roiling clouds threatening to spill themselves at any moment. I then looked at the brilliant, blue sky to the other side and witnessed how the vivid light played off the red rocks.
People love it here because of nature's beauty at every turn, can you blame them?! Happy Sunday to you all!

ActiveRain's #1 blogger visited southern Utah today!
Todd Clark's visit to St. George, Utah was much anticipated and most appreciated! We met at Marv's Drive-in, a local 50's type restaurant. His family and mine go back about a year or so when he arranged to come to pick up Athena, a pot-bellied piglet to take back home to Oregon as a pet.
It all started as I began blogging about Miss Prissy, Bacon and the seven piglets on ActiveRain, sharing the almost daily life, antics and downright cuteness of them all! (And I have pictures to prove it!) Todd contacted me asking … (22 comments)

Another reason to wear your name badge and REALTOR® insignia!
While returning a few items for exchange at the local Dillard's store, the clerk noticed I was a real estate agent. It could have been my name badge but more likely it was my blue and silver REALTOR® pin on my lapel.
She asked me, "When looking for a home to buy, what is the first thing I should do?" My answer of course, "Contact your local, trusted lender source to get yourself qualified." " If you do this first, you'll":

Speechless Sunday (almost!): WHOA-asis!
While driving to Mesquite, Nevada to check out the motorcycle track for our oldest son, we came around a bend in the road that leads to The Palms Golf Club and I said Whoa! Stopped the car and took this shot. Similar desert scenes like this one are often seen in movies but this is a golf green and a gorgeous sight among the natural brush softscape of the desert.
It is indeed the center of attention and a WHOA-asis for sure!

Phase II Millcreek Generation Facility Ribbon Cutting October 14th, 2010 ~ 4:00 p.m. in St. George, Utah / Dixie Sunshiners
In order to meet the needs of the St. George area's energy demands, Phase II of the Millcreek Generation Facility was constructed, doubling the capacity from 40 megawatts to 80 megawatts. The first phase cost approximately 18.5 million dollars, the second phase about 48 million dollars. Phase II, a gas-fired generation facility, reduces the amount of greenhouse gases introduced to the atmosphere therefore costing more for additional equipment required.
As the St. George area continues to grow and with the additional need … (1 comments)
