successful real estate agents: Staying power akin to an everlasting Gobstopper! - 03/07/17 07:40 AM
Staying power akin to an everlasting Gobstopper!

Agents first starting out will work many days with no immediate compensation for their efforts. Let's face it, we live in an instant gratification society and many newbies get starry-eyed with dreams of quick success!

There is much to be done to move a business forward:
Setting up processes and systems Reaching out to the Sphere of Influence Making a consistent effort in person and on-line
Newbies need to set realistic goals. They can shadow seasoned agents to learn good business habits and skills. Possessing tenacity and patience will be an advantage over those vying for instantaneous rewards.

Some agents will go on to have long careers, achieving their dreams and for others, … (6 comments)

successful real estate agents: Starting anew...A much needed do-over. - 12/27/16 06:14 PM
Starting anew...A much needed do-over.

The year of 2007 was met by an arrogant boss who was in denial, refusing to acknowledge the ever-changing market. It was evident that south was the direction it was going and soon, many who worked in the real estate industry would experience life-changing conditions.

Hailed in brisk times, he blamed me for the lack of traffic coming through the doors of the model homes. I began taking real estate classes and soon passed the test. He found out and let me go. The human resource woman apologized to me based on the circumstances.

Speak the truth, but leave immediately after -Slovenian proverb

This reminds me of some listing appointments I have sat through. Everything is going well, the rapport is strong, the connection made. As soon as the suggested price is revealed, the conversation quickly turns south because the sellers were thinking of a much higher list amount.

They refuse to listen to the facts. You are shown to the door, politely say thank you's and goodbyes and never see or hear from the sellers again. Before you know it, the home is listed well over the preferred price on the Comparable Market Analysis you did and it just sits.

successful real estate agents: Risk vs Reward: An all for one and one for all scenario! - 06/27/16 04:09 AM
Risk vs Reward: An all for one and one for all scenario!

Want consumer's to think you're a top agent in your selling area?

Create a team, then add your name to all the listings that the team produces and to all buyer documents. When the transactions close and record, your name will show up as a part of the process, every time!

The downside to this can show itself as well. If your name is on a transaction and it goes south due to the team member's fault, you may be liable and must take responsibility for the outcome as well.

You may have to stand before a … (4 comments)

successful real estate agents: Getting hooked on prospecting! - 06/26/16 11:57 PM
Getting hooked on prospecting!

Beginning a career in any service related industry requires tenacity and staying power. Gaining a solid client base takes staying the course while implementing tried and true methods.

For me, prospecting for new clients is a lot like fishing...To be successful, YOU MUST:
Be patient Be prepared Be consistent Be persistent Follow-through Know your limits Have realistic expectations Make sure your message is clear Be prepared to lose a few... Catch & release a few as well Realize when you have some "keepers!"
I highly recommend the proven methods of re-bait, re-cast, rinse and repeat often. Eventually, you will net the rewards of your consistent … (5 comments)

Thankfully, we are in charge of the who, what, when, where and how of our days. Ignore the meaningless static that comes in the form of petty jealousy from others. It's usually because you have something they want.

Do the work and watch it grow!

Successful gardening requires carefully sowing seeds with care, nurturing tender plants, weeding to create room for flourishing and feeding them essential nutrients regularly to eventually put food on the table.

The same care is required for a successful living. Making phone calls, setting appointments, developing buyer or seller relationships, a sincere effort put forth. Attention to detail and constant contact helps a business thrive.

Consistency is key and soon you will reap the rewards of all your hard work. Maintain it every day and the less work required but ignore it even … (12 comments)

successful real estate agents: Blatant self-promotion? You know it! - 07/10/14 05:01 AM
Blatant self-promotion? You know it!
To stay in business, owners must actively and consistently market themselves, to speak of their abilities and strong suits in order to direct traffic to their company. It is not enough to show up and just stand in the corner at local functions or be a weak online participant, just hoping that someone accidentally glances in that direction.

Call it blatant self-promotion if you wish but if I failed to advertise and market myself, I'd be out-of-business! When competing with over 800 other local agents in my selling area, it is essential to set myself apart from them.

Therefore I:
