I love rainbows... and browns...and cut throats...and tigers...and brookies...and goldens...and splakes... What is a splake, you ask? A hybrid fish that is a cross between a Lake Trout and a Brook Trout.
It is found and can be caught in Utah's lakes and reservoirs at: Causey Reservoir Fish Lake Mill Meadow Reservoir Joe's Valley Reservoir Are you ready for some FISHING? I am. We'll see you on the water when finished at the closing table! (9 comments)
The warm, sweet days of Spring bring fishin' to mind...Thinkin' 'bout fishing in southern Utah, trout fishin'...Just me an' the honey and a fishin' pole in our fav-rite spot keeps me forever lookin' forward to gettin' on the lake directly or sittin' on the bank and catchin' a few!
During the warmer, sweet days of Summer you may find us at any given time letting ourselves go fishing on the banks in southern Utah. Baiting. Casting. Catching and releasing while making regular withdrawals.
Looking forward to getting to the lake and catching a few again! (11 comments)
The fishing season may be over for us but the days spent casting, baiting and catching are well remembered. So as we prepare for Winter's arrival, we will also be thinking ahead to Spring and of future visits to our favorite fishing spot. Ahhh! The memories will carry me over 'till then...maybe.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. ~Doug Larson
While fishing off the bank at Panguitch Lake we encountered a chipmunk looking for companionship food. He befriended my husband and shook his hand took food from his hand. He was as as happy as a sea gull with a french fry chipmunk with a potato chip. He had more than a few!
He really s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d himself to see what kind of nutritional items goodies we had to offer and at one point had his head in the treat bag. It was sad to see him go, it was quite entertaining to watch him maneuver through the rocks (14 comments)
Sunny rays, water lapping at my tootsies on the shoreline, excited cries of joy as children reeled in their catches. A spur-of-the-moment day fishing trip to Panguitch Lake, one of our favorite fishing spots, yielded the satisfying feeling of a day spent without phone service, deadlines or rushing around.
No rainbows today by sea or sky, just a few nibbles but oh, what a day! A relaxing time shared with my sweetheart and a few special moments captured!
Enjoy this beautiful day before us and why not? It will last at least that long.
35% rain quickly turned into 100% as we came over the rise just before Panquitch Lake. A light sprinkle did nothing to deter us from setting up our spot on the beach. Sitting inside the truck during a downpour or two until we realized there was rain gear in the toolbox. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it must be a duck...oh, wait, that's me in a bright neon yellow slicker with hood and matching pants! Ha!

While fishing this weekend at Panguitch Lake, I couldn't help but notice how alert the sea gulls were when food became available. From afar, they honed in on a man cleaning his fish at the shoreline, then one-by-one they floated through the air, landing side-by-side, patiently awaiting the fresh meal drifting toward them. While some may call them 'trash birds', scavengers or greedy guts; I say they are nature's opportunists, utilizing what is of no value to others. Somehow their keen eyesight or built-in sonar system reminded me of past mealtimes at my parent's house with (13 comments)
Due to a burst pipe, Panguitch Lake drained down quite a bit so we have been reluctant to bring the boat. We have been fishing from the bank instead. My husband and I have enjoyed sitting, baiting, casting and catching fish. Whether your place of relaxation is a beach, an island, a lake or your own back yard, one thing is sure, it's time well spent! Happy Monday folks! It's now time to get back to work. (16 comments)
I'm gonna let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!
Fishing has always been a family passion from making the list, packing the supplies, hooking up the boat, to the anticipation of arrival. We have been blessed to enjoy time spent together on the lakes catching fish that became meals passed around the table from one family member to another.
No matter if the skies were overcast, cloudy or beryl blue, I am present in my element and am thankful for the opportunity.
