Stress Stress Stress... - 02/26/10 07:21 PM
Stress is a physical response by an outside stimulus. This response consists of an abrupt change in a person's physical, emotional, or mental well being. Way back when, we were hunting and gathering in caves, stress was our "Fight or Flight" response. When you get those goosebumps. (Which is actually when we used to tuft out fur, much like out cat does when it's afraid) You heart starts racing, your blood starts pumping...you are experiencing stress. The difference is, today, we're not being chased down by a Saber Tooth Tiger. Our economy is a bit trying and we are all working harder

Homeowner's Insurance Is Like A Smorgasboard ~ Plenty Of Choices - 02/26/10 07:24 AM
Southern Maryland Home Owners Insurance! Via Dorie Dillard: Canyon Creek & NW Austin Living (Coldwell Banker United): I find it hard to go to a buffet..there are always so many choices it makes your head spin! It's good to take the lead from someone who knows what is good and can advise you! Checking out Home Insurance Companies, all they have to offer and compairing rates can also be a daunting task. You want to know you are comparing apples to apples. In purchasing a home today it is wise to investigate options for homeowner's insurance early rather than later. There

Will there ever be another Sinatra? - 02/24/10 04:20 PM
Will there ever be another Sinatra? "His phrasing has a lot to do with it, too. You feel he understands and means every syllable of the lyrics. He seems to be recounting a personal experience each time. He sings as if he knows. His phrasing is final, absolute, definitive - so logically and inevitably do the phrases follow each other that, after hearing him sing a song, that song never sounds quite right sung by anyone else. He phrases more as if he is speaking to someone: the intervals, word stresses, note values and rhythms are changed to fit in more with

Via Holly Kirby Weatherwax--Your Realtor® in Reston,VA (Momentum Realty,LLC): Put down your pen, close the extra windows open in your browser, don't answer the phone...just read the rest of this blog. Why? Today, February 22, is Single-Tasking Day. Most of us cannot even remember a time when we were expected to do one thing at a time and do it well. I remember, vaguely, a time when I would leave the office and be 'off the clock' until the next morning (pre-Real Estate days, of course). What Comes Down Must Go Up: Fed Raises Discount Rate By 50% - 02/21/10 09:00 PM
Via Mike Jones (SUNSTREET MORTGAGE, LLC): DON'T WAIT. CALL YOUR REALTOR NOW! It had to happen. The New York Times news alert headline says Federal Reserve Raises Interest Rate Charged to Banks, In First Move Since 2008. Is it a big deal? That remains to be seen. If you locked your loan yesterday, be happy. The rate you got isn't available today. An Example From History (You can't call it a lesson unless something has been learned...) Are you looking for that perfect property to Buy? Via Barb Fischer (RD Brown Real Estate): It used to be that internet savvy buyers would spend a few weeks looking and learning, and then once they targeted their desired area/price/style, they’d view a handful of homes, maybe 3-5, submit an offer, get into escrow and actually close escrow within about a month. Now if you’ve done your pre-homework and gone to see 10 homes, and still haven’t found what you want, it’s time to change your criteria and your expectations. This number includes homes you’ve scoped out from the outside, then

Old Italian dinner in 15 minutes - 02/04/10 11:27 PM
Sally Morris Greenwood, SC inspired me to write this post. Sally wrote a post Easy 15 Minutes To The Table Meal For Four. Tonight I ventured to Walmart with the fear that all the food would be gone in Southern Maryland. I wondered what I could cook if were locked in the house for a few days? Hmm.. Lots of people or just two? I love to cook, but I don't like to cook for myself or just two. I love people around me with great conversation, food, drinks and music. I will slave all day without a complaint (most of the time). I walked

Buyers on Southern Maryland! Do you need gift funds to purchase a home? Your down payment can be gifted! Via Cari & Doug Anderson (Diversified Mortgage Group): Did you know that a monetary gift can be used for your home purchase down payment? Many conventional loan programs allow gifts to be used toward down payment only after you have put a certain amount of your own money into the transaction. However, the FHA loan program allows the entire down payment (a minimum of 3.5% of the purchase price) to come from a gift. Such gifts can also cover any or all of your

Beat Candace! - 02/03/10 08:24 PM
Via Mike Mueller (Tech and Social Media Consultant): No hiding the fact that one of my favorite charities right now is Skip1.org. You may have seen one of my tweets about them, or a Facebook post. The fact is that I love the concept. Skip something small and insignificant in your life, donate what you would have spent on that item, and make a very significant difference in the lives of others. 100% of the donations go directly to make a difference. No overhead fees, no salaries, $1 in makes a $1 difference there. Speaking of “there”, while Skip1 works worldwide, right now the

Should You Hire a Buyer's Agent in your new home construction? - 02/03/10 08:22 PM
Via Loreena Yeo - Broker|Realtor(R) of Frisco TX Homes (214) 783-2210 (3:16 team REALTY): In the greater Frisco TX area markets, many home buyers are starting to be open to the idea of new home building/ construction again. The economy/ job economy seems to look "more stable" to many people in the North Texas area, so they are open to spending good money on new home construction. The prices in the area have also been inching up slowly and new home building seems to start to make sense again. For about 2 1/2 to 3 years, many new home builders slowed down

Need a little help? I hope this can make a little difference in making ends meet in this economic slump. Via Hannah Williams (Re/Max affiliates NE): Reading how unemployment is on the rise I worry about the folks who don't know where to turn for assistance. I was in the local bank yesterday where an older woman had over drawn her checking account and had a great amount of over draft fees on her account and wanted to make payment arrangements with the bank to pay them back. There are many good hard working people out of work with not enough money to eat

Southern Maryland - Weather Alert! - 02/03/10 09:43 AM
This is what my friend sent... Another round of high impact winter weather is slated to occur from Friday into Sunday. This event is likely to equal or exceed that of the December 19, 2009 storm and may resemble the March 18-22, 1958 storm in terms of duration and snowfall. In that event, areas of Baltimore County received 4 feet of snow. What you will read below will not be released publicly until Tuesday or perhaps Wednesday, and may contain some changes, but we are confident of our investigation thus far. Our pre-public statement: The Foot's Forecast team in Baltimore,

I received this today and I believe a "Call to Action" is important for the Building Industry in Maryland ! We are trying to get modifications to both the grandfathering and redevelopment sections of the new ordinance and are asking our members of the Senate's Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee (EHEA) to encourage MDE to make the necessary revisions. If not, a number of our members stand to be adversely impacted by the new regulations in that they

St. Mary's and Calvert County Meet! Via Gabriela Agostinelli (Century 21 New Millennium): Happy Monday everybody! I wish you all a productive and fun week! Here is a nice quote I read in my friend Margaret C. Taylor's book: "EVERY DAY THAT YOU SIT BACK AND WAIT FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN IS ANOTHER DAY LOST", Jennifer Flavin. This picture I took yesterday, Sunday Jan 31st, before a nice dinner in Stoney's. Route 4, if you don't know, this is the Thomas Johnson Bridge (lower Patuxent River Bridge), it connects St. Mary's County and Calvert County. Gabriela Agostinelli CENTURY 21 New
