Wheaton Ridge is a 200+ home subdivision in the North West corner of Wheaton off of Geneva Road. Most of these homes were built by Faganel Builders between 1988 and 1994. Generally, they are two story homes with either 4 or 5 bedrooms. The annual assessment averages about $100. Children in public school attend Wheaton District 200 schools: Pleasant Hill Elementary, Monroe Middle School and Wheaton North High School.
Last year, 4 homes sold in Wheaton Ridge.

Spring is the perfect time to plan for home improvement projects. While you are interviewing contractors, ordering the dumpster and calling J.U.L.I.E. don't forget to stop by Wheaton's City Hall at 303 W. Wesley Street to file your building permit.
You can obtain the permit application online and then submit it to the Building Department for review and approval. Doing it right the first time can save you both time and money in the long run.

1896 Wheaton Time Capsule - 03/23/07 10:26 PM
The developers of the old DuPage County Courthouse complex are not only renovating the 1868 Romanesque building, but creating history in the process. Airhart Construction and Focus Development have found a time capsule from 1896 hidden in the walls of the DuPage County Courthouse.
The Center for History in Wheaton will remove and analyze the treasures found in this time capsule. Then, on April 5 at 3 p.m. Airhart Construction and Focus Development will host a ceremony outside the courthouse. This event will be open to the public. 2006 Sales of Evergreen Condos There were 8 condominium sales on Cedar Street last year. They were all 2 bedroom, 1 bath units. The high sale was $129,500 and the low was $118,000 with an average market time of 63 days.

There are currently 7 two bedroom, one bath condos on the market ranging in price from $126,500 to $131,500. The average market time for these current homes on the market is 71 days and counting.

The Romanesque DuPage County Courthouse Building has been a staple in Wheaton since it was dedicated on July 4, 1868. This building was designed in 1896 by Miffler E. Bell and added to the National Register of Historic Place in 1978. After being moved to a new facility in 1990, the building was sold to National Lewis University. The property was sold again and is being restored and turned into a multi-family residential complex.

Wheaton, with its strong reputation as a family-oriented community, has recently gained even more notoriety as it has been chosen as one of "50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family," in a book by Lee and Saralee Rosenberg. Wheaton has also been named "the healthiest of Chicago's largest suburbs" in a recent survey evaluating the public health, safety and environment of several suburban communities.
