CNNMoney.com reports that "Automakers and advocates for the blind have agreed on a plan to address an unintended problem caused by electric and hybrid cars: They endanger sight-impaired and distracted pedestrians because they make no noise when running on electric power".
Their noiseless glide has caused them to be known as the silent killers of the road.
Research by the University of California highlighted the noiseless dangers of electric cars. A recent study found that hybrid vehicles came 40 per cent closer to pedestrians than their combustion engine counterparts before they could be detected.

Renault Twizy Concept
This all-electric concept car from Renault provides for the driver and passenger to sit in tandem, making the car narrow and nimble for city traffic.
However I can't foresee this vehicle being a hit in the American market.

Renault Zoe Concept
The Zoe is a zero-emission car with smart and appealing looks.
At first glance I thought this was a derivitive of the Volkswagen Beetle.

Renault Kangaroo
The Reanult Kangaroo is designed for easy loading of luggage or parcels with a hatch-type rear door and a folding sill.

hybrid cars: The 2010 Geneva Motor Show - Electric & Hybrid Concept Cars - 03/03/10 11:32 AM
The Geneva Motor Show is one of the largest annual autoshows in the world.
As always there are some great new models and concept cars unveiled. I've haven't attended the show (yet), but I like to see what's happening on their website. Hew are a few of the vehicles on display that really caught my eye.
Peugeot SR1 Concept
This isn't a Maserati or Aston Martin but the Peugeot SR1 Concept car.
I think it's a particularly exciting design from the French car manufacturer.

Is Mercedes really about to launch a Gullwing, hybrid SLK?
Several Auto Blogs (following the lead from Auto Express) are featuring articles about a new hybrid Mercedes.
Daimler Benz has a 10% investment in Tesla Motors, currently the only manufacturer of an all electric car prodcution car - so this may not be beyond the realm of reality!
